They are talking about training camp, it's coming back. The NBA is just trying to give some time for the amount of available testing to the public to increase to a point where they won't get killed when they jump back in

I'll say it again, I'd be shocked if the league didn't try to come back. At this point, after woj's latest pod it sounds like the only thing stopping them right now is the pr side of it.

belive that if you wan't to.

the elite players would play in any era.

Bill Russel was like Dennis roman, stretched out to 6'10 with a 40 plus inch vertical.
Due was the an elite high jumper, Olympic level at the time, and a high enough basketball IQ to win two championships as a coach.

Bill Russell would be the best defensive player in any era.
An russell prob was playing against ya great granddad after he left the mill job. Jk. Rs most athletic ppl at that time only played baseball an football

NBA stats b4 aba merge are bs,. ABA brought all the athletes in. if not tom chambers an tom guglioutta would be top 10 NBA players lol
hey Tom chambers was legit

Tom Gugliotta too. Came into the league in 1991 as a stretch 4 (ahead of his time btw) then was putting up around 18/9/4/2 stls/1 blk in his prime in the mid-to-late 90s (including an AS selection). His biggest problem was health.

Bill Russell would be the best defensive player in any era.

The league average FG% in 1957 was 38%. The only defensive IQ you needed was “he wit us.”

6-9 with a 40 inch vertical while 2 out of 3 shots are coming off the rim by dudes with horrendous mechanics

nah

It’s no shortage of 6-10 dudes with 40 inch verticals in the NBA today. >D

you gotta leave him his era. It doesn’t translate
Yeah no.

went through the combine history which goes back to 2010.

6'10 guys with 40 inch max verts.

Tyrus Thomas
Miles Plumlee

So no it is not at all common to have a 40 inch vertical at 6'10.

People like to act like human beings have like evolved into a new species since the 1950's.

nah

Along with having all of the decent basketball players of the era on your team :lol

Bill Russell got the same physical profile as Stromile Swift.

This kind of helps addict’s point. It goes to show that being 6’10” with a 40” vert doesn’t automatically mean Bill would be okay in this era because it certainly didn’t help make Tyrian Thomas or Miles Plumlee relevant in this era

Thats what makes me think ppl like zo mourning woulda gave him trouble

nah coaching and strategy def had a big impact.

Wilt's teams mostly mediocre offensively dispute the fact that he was "wit them", wasn't till he got hooked up Alex Hannum,
installed a new offense and convinced wilt to buy into passing more did the team put up a dominant offense numbers.

coaching def mattered.

Yeah of course the game has developed, but that's about strategy and training. there is no reason to believe that elite athletes who were the best of their era wouldn't still be great now.

also what do you think the average FG% would be if you removed the 3 point line, and strictly called palming rules. ie. any time your hand isn't directly on top of the ball it's carrying? The fg% is hugely impacted by the rules.

Stromile Swift physical profile with actual elite basketball instincts? Sounds pretty good to me.

LOL off rip Larry nance jr , Cody zeller, Blake griffin. Don’t tell me Blake didn’t have an official 40 inch vert either

no im telling you that, a guy who was dominant in a league that lacked the level basketball training and skill development would be even more dominant today.

never mind the child hood nutrition + lead poisoning in a pre civil rights america.

the free throw thing makes me hesitate, but 2000 shaq, it's hard for me to imagine a center being more offensively dominant.
All the centers in the league aged out by Shaq’s “peak” except for Duncan. They saw the Spurs 4 straight years in the ‘00s and Kobe was the leading scorer every single time.

You’re envisioning 2000s Shaq killing Smits, Todd McCollugh and 34-year old Mutombo.

Cap has a claim to being the greatest of all time. Respect to Shaq but he’s on a lower tier any way you look at it.

Eye am NOT comparing Stromile Swift to Bill Russell

Eye am saying that someone with that physical profile (same could be said of Wilt IMO)in that era, playing a different form of basketball, with all of the best players on his team, is toooo much of a leap to include him with guys of the semi modern / modern era of basketball.

In fact, the 11 rings thing alludes to this. It is inconceivable that a player playing anything close to a form of modern basketball could win 11 rings.
