How is he going to be under appreciated? He's universally regarded as one of the 5 greatest scorers of all time and in most people's/publications top 15 lists right now. He doesn't have the surrogates to constantly go to bat for him (like some players) but everybody knows and pretty much properly rates him.

Saw they canceled the Boardroom though.
He has the talent to be up there with Bron higher than Kobe as for modern perimeter players. His off the court drama did him dirty.

No one thinks of his GSW chips as impressive accomplishments in comparison to other players.

Well the chips argument as impressive is legitimate. But there's still time to remedy that if he gets another chip post GS. Similarly to Bron's post Miami ones.

Nobody questions his talent though.

KD's rings dont count mentality is the problem with sports these days. I remember a time growing up where chasing money instead of winning was frowned upon....and rightfully so. Just crazy to me how the tables have completely flipped on that. Id love to blame one player and his legion of fans, but thats an argument for another day.

His rings count. He just tried to reverse engineer his greatness, but he should have seen all the backlash and non validation coming. Lebbywinks literally laid the blueprint out for him. His real issue is he doesn't have the surrogates out there like Bron does on every platform.

I'd say KD is who he is at this point, generational talent and will be recognized as such but he just isn't a natural leader along the lines of Lebron, Kobe, MJ, etc.

Only difference is that Bron had competition, and Warriors were barely challenged (Rockets won't get credit for this) in their tenure

The bit about KD joining a former champ is just semantics to me tbh him and Bron tried to rite the same passage

If a guy like Shaq gets criticized for not living up to his potential then why doesn't Kevin Durant?

Why does Austin always seem mad like he wasn’t born a multi-millionaire

he's always seemed to have a giant chip on his shoulder. he's talked about it in various places, but being treated as "doc's son" growing up pissed him off and motivated him to make his own name for himself. I imagine that level of competitiveness is why someone born into millions can still grind and carve out his own career.

obligatory:

On what basis has Kevin Durant "not lived up to his potential"?
Better measurables and skillset than any wing ever. People say Shaq underachieved for how physically dominant he was so why not Kevy D? That 'Mr. Unreliable' thing wasn't exactly a hot take. His track record with OKC is mostly forgotten. Not saying he should've won multiple chips but he came up small more often than you like to see.
