Be specific. Weird **** like what?
Lakers losing to the baby Lakers in round 1
Rockets actually doing somethings
Sixers dominating
Bucks looking trash
Clippers go nowhere
And the list goes on

it’s all weird

Doing something unlikely/improbable.

I know what the phrase means. I'm speaking in regards to the Rockets and their capabilities. Before the shutdown they were slumping and a middling seed likely to be a 1st rd or 2nd rd exit. What's the trajectory now?

They went 1-4 in their last 5 but had won 6 games in a row previously. Losing streaks happen.

I wouldn't bet on them to beat either LA team, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they caught fire from 3 and did. Their high variance scheme on top of 4 months rest and no homecourt advantage is just some weird variables.

Trajectory? Probably still the same. I don't think expert picks or Vegas are switching up.

But I wouldn't be shocked if the dynamic COVID/Bubble situation facilitated some type of "Cinderella" run for a team (like the Rockets) that have been counted out, especially if players are getting sick, hurt, are rusty, ctach flames, and so on and so forth. Seems like it's all pretty fleeting.

And again, this doesn't mean I'm picking the Rockets or any underdog. I just wouldn't be surprised by something unexpected...in any of the 4 pro sports.

With less than two weeks until the resumption of the NBA season, fans are beginning to get their hopes up for live sports to continue across the United States. With plenty of headlines in the mix, Bet Online has released the latest odds for the 2020 NBA Championship.

At the top of the list, the Los Angeles Lakers sit with +240 odds to bring in their first Championship since the 2010 campaign. More specifically, Los Angeles hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2013.

The Los Angeles Clippers sit with +300 odds to win, and remain as powerhouses in the Western Conference. They are led by Kawhi Leonard, who has plenty of individual playoff experience. This season, he is eighth in the NBA in points (27.5) and steals (1.8) per game.

The Milwaukee Bucks, who average a league-high 118.6 points per game, contain +325 odds. The team is led by MVP frontrunner Giannis Anteokounmpo, who is leading the NBA in efficiency rating (34.8).

In a distant fourth, the Houston Rockets (+1200) hope to make some noise within the Western Conference. After a positive COVID-19 test, Russell Westbrook hopes to be healthy by the time the resumption is underway.

Back in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics continue to be written as a +1400 underdog. Despite the odds, the Celtics were the only team with five bubble players listed in ESPN’s Top 50 Players list.

Other contenders included the Philadelphia 76ers (+2000), Toronto Raptors (+2000), and Denver Nuggets (+2500).

How can anyone be so certain of who’s winning the chip giving this context is beyond me

4 months off
No home court
Covid
It's a bubble not a miracle. Not exactly a free for all. We still got 60+ games and more for some teams to gauge their chances. We know who the contenders are.

Swear I still don't get odds.

Rockets +1200, Lakers +240? Like what would +1 mean? Is +0 possible? Is that like guaranteed?

The lower the +, the less of an underdog said team is. So if the bucks are the clear favorite, they’d be the - (say -100). Rockets being +1200 compared to the Lakers at +240 means the Lakers have a better chance of upsetting and the Rockets are a bigger underdog and less likely to win

Money wise it's correlated to the profit you'd receive.

You bet $100 on the Lakers, you'd get $240 if they won (2.4 to 1 odds).

You bet $100 on the Rockets, you'd get $1200 if they won (12 to 1 odds).

Do y’all think that teams that are reliant on the 3 ball are in trouble? I heard Chris Mannix with this take but I don’t think he’s right. Imo he’s underestimating how good these guys are, their muscle memory and ability to adapt quickly to where they were in March. I know some guys will be out of shape and their legs will go but imo they’ll get it back before we even notice.

NFL has an even weaker player's union and they just reupped their CBA for another 10 years. Owners literally have no obligation to listen to them.

To be fair, he’s speaking out on COVID and not social injustice but I understand your general sentiment about going against “the grain”.
I was making a general statement. I wasn't implying he was speaking out on Social Justice. (Then again, this IS SOcial Justice )

HE is powerful enough as an NFL player that he is able to speak out without fear of losing his job.
