ballmer in a league of his own with his wealth
he really bought out the old forum just so he didn't have to go back and forth with dolan :smh::lol:

I stand corrected with the, "Platform" argument. I see the players are using it in the right way.

I apologize for not seeing it your way.

@BIG FISH @B Sox
BIG LEEMELONE BIG LEEMELONE

Playing pursuant of looking for justice seems(ed) like the wrong message, but the players haven't disappointed. Already done more than I've given them credit of being capable of-- glad to be wrong, need them to double down and up the pressure once they start playing(hopefully)

My St. Lucia passport been expired for a decade. Finally got around to renewing it because of this nonsense. :smh:

All my homies overseas been checking on me, because they all think America is a ****hole now.
My parents are planning to go to Jamaica for two weeks after the election and I'm honestly considering going with them. My Jamaican passport is still good.

AEG was planning some “major” upgrades for Staples Center. Don’t know where things stand now with Covid

A 20 year old arena is outdated? Buss' don't have that kinda money.
These days anything over a decade gets talks of major upgrades or a complete renovation

20 years, some owners would be talking bout dippin if they don’t get a new arena or more bread from the city :lol :{ ...Lakers obviously not on that type of time but that’s how “old” a 20 year venue is now

Staples just needs to get renovations/updates every year, can't leave that prime location in DTLA and nowhere else to build.

This whole social awareness **** is corny. I'm sorry.

It's so obviously produced and over the top. It's more of the same pandering we've been seeing across industries. Everyone's in scramble mode to produce their best of version of "hey look we care".

Most of us are aware that the reason that this "Bubble" is happening is for the bag...and that's the only reason. The massive onslaught of symbolic gestures and charitable efforts can't veil that fact.

You can scream Breona Taylor after every made basket and play on pretty BLM court designs but what exact purpose will it have served in the long run? I can tell you exactly what purpose the 15 Gatorade ads that will run during a game will have. And for the record...I don't really give a **** one way or the other. I'm not one of the people "concerned" about their safety during the pandemic either. I understand that the bag must be preserved...just don't "platform" me to death.

I agree with your points but at the same time, what more do you want NBA players to do in the Bubble or even as a hypothetical alternative? If they were to protest and stay at home, their collective efforts would likely bear similar results. They would have the time to get involved other ways but there is no guarantee they would act or that their actions would be effective. Which then begs the question, are we asking a little too much of them?

Professional athletics have social influence which is invaluable but just look at how Senators such as Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are coming at the NBA. Or the AGs who are choosing to not act in the case of these shootings. Or the Governor of Missouri talking about pardons for the couple waving guns at peaceful protesters. Or anything the President of the United States does on a daily basis.

The steps toward the change we want are less likely to come through the basketball court and more likely through the ballot box. I would be curious to hear other ideas of what professional athletes can do but IMO if we don't start to get these white supremacists out of the pant at both the state and federal level then 'Murica will keep being 'Murica. Their is certainly an intersection between the two but it's unclear to me what the NBA can reasonably do different with tangible results.

this still one of the funniest **** i've seen
prok didn't win the chip as he promised but at least he wasn't afraid to spend and go "all in"

Anytime I think of Prok...I'm always reminded of the back and forth between him and Cuban

After it went on for a while, he had that random interview on Dateline (or 60 minutes) showing off his guns  Had to show Mark it was real in the field :pimp:

I don't think it's complicated at all what the league should do. Everyone keeps touting the platform the league has, well dammit use it where change is most needed, at the ballot box. Put your millions/ billions of dollars you profit (and demand your sponsors as well) behind whatever lobbyists and politicians/policies that will enact the charges that are being demanded. And players I guess have the responsibility to hold the league accountable for doing that and if they don't act accordingly.

Also internally the league should examine itself and take stock of why there still is so little minority representation in many of these front offices and take serious initiatives to rectify that and actively promote those qualified candidates.

The time for symbolic things and hollow gestures is over. There needs to be more from the players than just keeping a conversation going, cause quite frankly as was predicted once all the games start the majority is tuning out all the ancillary stuff.

Most people that are marching in the streets don't have much more than their protests and votes to give. Money at the end of the day rules most everything and if the NBA and their sponsors are as progressive as they claim to be it's time to put their vast network of resources to action, BLM on the courts or slogans on the backs of jerseys ain't cutting it chief.

I'm "concerned" for their health in the sense that I don't want them risking their or anyone elses health for my entertainment-- it's draconian

The argument that, by playing, they're 'using their platform' is BS by anyone who promotes it, but they chose to take the bag and by in-large they're doing the best that they can with that. While it's void of any real sacrifice, it's still a commendable gesture made in good faith
