I agree with your points but at the same time, what more do you want NBA players to do in the Bubble or even as a hypothetical alternative? If they were to protest and stay at home, their collective efforts would likely bear similar results. They would have the time to get involved other ways but there is no guarantee they would act or that their actions would be effective. Which then begs the question, are we asking a little too much of them?

Professional athletics have social influence which is invaluable but just look at how Senators such as Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are coming at the NBA. Or the AGs who are choosing to not act in the case of these shootings. Or the Governor of Missouri talking about pardons for the couple waving guns at peaceful protesters. Or anything the President of the United States does on a daily basis.

The steps toward the change we want are less likely to come through the basketball court and more likely through the ballot box. I would be curious to hear other ideas of what professional athletes can do but IMO if we don't start to get these white supremacists out of the pant at both the state and federal level then 'Murica will keep being 'Murica. Their is certainly an intersection between the two but it's unclear to me what the NBA can reasonably do different with tangible results.

There is no hypothetical alternative. That's my point. I'm not asking ANYTHING of them because I know there's a limit to what they can do in the first place and we've reached that ceiling already. I commend the players for their efforts but I'm not about to pretend like they have some massive tangible impact on anything. I'm moreso discussing the league overall...particularly it's decision makers who are sitting in boardrooms and saying "Should we place the BLM logo at center court or along the baseline"..."Yeah...let's put group economics on these shirts...that'll be awesome.

I couldn't possibly care any less about twitter squabbles between politicians and Mark Cuban. It's merely theater for optics. None of that threatens Mark Cuban's or any other owner's bottom line...or we know they wouldn't engage. Moreygate taught us that.

You mean like a good segment of the people going to Staples for Lakers games now?

I don't think it's complicated at all what the league should do. Everyone keeps touting the platform the league has, well dammit use it where change is most needed, at the ballot box. Put your millions/ billions of dollars you profit (and demand your sponsors as well) behind whatever lobbyists and politicians/policies that will enact the charges that are being demanded. And players I guess have the responsibility to hold the league accountable for doing that and if they don't act accordingly.

Also internally the league should examine itself and take stock of why there still is so little minority representation in many of these front offices and take serious initiatives to rectify that and actively promote those qualified candidates.

The time for symbolic things and hollow gestures is over. There needs to be more from the players than just keeping a conversation going, cause quite frankly as was predicted once all the games start the majority is tuning out all the ancillary stuff.

Most people that are marching in the streets don't have much more than their protests and votes to give. Money at the end of the day rules most everything and if the NBA and their sponsors are as progressive as they claim to be it's time to put their vast network of resources to action, BLM on the courts or slogans on the backs of jerseys ain't cutting it chief.

I appreciate these responses. I couldn’t agree more, I just wanted to see exactly where you were coming from and it appears we’re on the same page.

The League and owners know what they need to or could do , at least in terms of political support, but as Mr. Hill said, they don’t want to **** with the money. It’s a shame that all we have in sports is owners like Sterling and Loeffler who will speak up on some racist **** but never anyone on the opposite end of the spectrum. Owners are to compromise their positions and risk it all to promote racist views and protect sexual deviants but won’t say anything truly meaningful to advance minority causes. THAT’S too far.

Dippers have the modern day MJ, Pip and now Rodman... Brazy stuff

relentless tenacity Sir

and makes the top 2 players on the team job easier

other than that thankful he aint got **** in common with him

just the way i see it

trezz face.jpg

he plays his best minutes next the 3rd best player. He doesn’t rebound or defend like Rodman. Might as well compare Bev to Rodman since intensity is being brought up.

trezl is my guy but he might not know who Dennis Rodman is

Glad to see the players are getting good tree down on campus

Aside from not being as good or having the influence that Rodman has, who does Trez have a beef with that would lead to something like this?

Unless he’s actually leaving the bubble to go on a bender or get on a rasslin’ PPV, I don’t want to hear the Rodman comparisons. It’s much deeper than just basketball with Dennis IMO.
