For a couple years now, my response to #AllLivesMatter has been "No, exactly, just like how on Valentines Day, we remind people to celebrate Halloween, and on Labor Day we celebrate New Year's Day... because ALL holidays are equally important. No, goof, we focus on the one when the time is needed."

Damn, this is good. Can I borrow this intro for the next time I interact with a member of the #AllLivesMatter crowd? This has has the perfect amount of logic and wit to make them even angrier then in turn dig an even deeper hole.

I love being black, I love the color of my skin, the texture of my hair, my culture both american and west-indian, but goddamn is it tiring. It's so tiring having my existence constantly invalidated. Shouldn't me having to constantly prove racism is real be enough evidence of racism? Why else would I do it? What benefit does being oppressed and discriminated against confer to me? We ain't even asking for more, we just want the same, but instead we're told that not only will we continue to receive less but that it's our faults and less actually doesn't even exist. How does that make sense in their minds?

This sucks to read. I know that's not the right word to use, but it sucks. My parents sent me to a middle school that was mostly "minority" (mostly black). This came with much protest from me (all my friends went elsewhere), but it was the most rewarding experience of my life. It was one of those fake inner city schools where they put an accelerated program in to make it look better, but I straddled the line between gifted and regular programs because I wasn't quite that smart. So, I got to know some kids who came from NOTHING. I saw kids drop off the face of the planet by 7th grade. It was sad.

I'll never see the people I met 25 years ago again, but I will remember their influence on this scrawny white guy.

Bro I havent heard the term Nuclear family since high school until like two weeks ago. Like who really cares and believes in that crap?

Nobody, but a lot of people pretend it’s still something to justify bigotry.

BUT MAH BAHBLE TELLS MEH SO!!!
It's not even in the bible, it only came into existence as the model of what a household should be in the 1950s-60s.
Before then the idea of a family included living with extended relatives and it still does in many cultures.
It's a largely western ideal and I'm not even sure where the american obsession came from.
Probably television like everything else in this country. Nowadays it's nothing but another racist dogwhistle.
As soon as you hear anyone lamenting the decline of the nuclear family you know they mean black people.

And gays. And that is NOT an attempt to compare the plight of Black people to the plight of gays, because it's not comparable. The plight of Black people is obviously, (well, obviously to me), far worse, FAR worse, but when I hear/read someone mention the 'sanctity' of the nuclear family dynamic and how the country/world is going to ish because the god concept isn't happy with the straying away from the nuclear family, I think 'You don't like black people or gays. Straight white families, that's all you value.'

It''s not even in the bible
"This is the way a family should be: thus sayeth the Lord" is not in the bible, but through some verbal gymnastics, which xtian extremists are good at, the nuclear family can be created using the bible. There are verses about the man being the head of the household, verses about the woman of the house being subservient to the man, and verses about children being obedient.

Of course there are also verses about dragons and rape victims being forced to marry their rapists, soooo maybe not the best moral compass.

No you're right gays too. Transgender people. Career women. Anything you didn't see on an episode of Father Knows Best.
The glorification of the nuclear family is wholly centered around the oppression of anyone that's not a cis-hetero man and the deligitimization of non-western cultures.

After missing the playoffs last year, Lakers added AD and he leads them in 4/5 major stats category and in the 1st seed. Why isn't he the frontrunner for MVP?

The narrative doesn’t work.

Bron is the leader of that team. He’s the floor general. His play has been MVP level and it’s year 17.

That being the case and with Giannis beasting out east, AD would have to be putting up 32 & 15 to be in the discussion.
