They finished dead last in defense for the pre season and looked pretty exceptional offensively, finished top 5

Why is their defense so bad?

I hate expectations they’ve been throwing out there. Jazz will be fine. 2nd half team. But the definite top 3 in the west thing is a bit premature. They’ll be in the mix tho. And if everyone is healthy come playoff time....Jazz, Nuggets, Rockets and Warriors will be the best teams.

Why is their defense so bad?

It’s alarming. They can’t keep up with transition teams and also anyone with midrange shooters killed them last year and again this pre season with Rudy sinking to the rim

My biggest concern with them is that they have a lot of skill players now and not many of those “gritty” types like crowder or favors. These skill guys are going to have to do some dirty work, can’t just depend on Rudy to clean everything up

Royce, exum and Davis have to fill this role

How many games is Jimmy Butler playing? He’s not going to play 82. They gave up so much depth to get Jimmy, he got paid, and there’s nothing for him to prove now. The question I’ve kicked around is, Is this team better than Jimmy’s last team in Chicago [in 2016–17]? And that team was an eight seed in the East. Jimmy cannibalizes possessions. Zion is going to have to trim some weight off them knees.

Just a guess, but it's probably less the weight and more the alignment of his knee. It looks like he has knee valgus, which is knock knee. Grant Hill had the same problem for many seasons before they fixed it. I think that's why Zion walks so funny. If it is that, he will probably start doing physical therapy to fix his misalignment, and that physical therapy will be an ongoing thing even after he returns.

I'm a Derrick Rose fan. I have experience with watching my favorite player go in and out with random soreness for weeks at a time. I hope that pattern doesn't happen with Zion and he can just move on from this without knee soreness randomly reoccurring.
