I'm reading Barca will target Valencia's Cancelo. Wouldn't be surprised with their now strengthened relationship with Valencia, and son's 86 FIFA potential 8o

If so, I guess Bellerin's prime years will be spent in Manchester then
I can handle it if he stays for another 4 years, he'll STILL be in his prime to start elsewhere but at least he would have gave a lot of his youthful legs to arsenal. Though I imagine pep would be gone by then, and that seems to be the story about Hector going to city

Sagna thinks he felt a tear in his thigh :{  get better man |I

Pablo losing a step now too :{  time for Maffeo to get that baptism by fire I believe in him.
even though Sagna went to the citizens, I understood and didn't resent him for it; my favorite and the best right back I've seen at arsenal. I hope he gets healthy soon and continues to be the rock he always is

@ScoutedFootball Big news coming out of Turin. Juventus have reportedly handed 16-year-old Moise Kean a pro contract. Star in the making. Raiola client.

Can someone explain the difference between a 3-4-3 and a 5-2-2-1

Don't they both have 3 center backs and 2 wing backs?

They both utilize 3 center backs but only the 5-man back line formation would utilize wing backs.

The 3 man back line would most likely be a LCB/CB/RCB. The 5 man back line would feature the three CB's listed above, plus a LWB/RWB.

By definition the "4" in a 3-4-3 are a part of the midfield line, so even if there's width being provided on the outside and they're doing their share of defending they wouldn't be considered wing backs they'd be a RM/LM or RW/LW.

if you play a 343 on fifa id imagine its wingers not LB/RB

Yeah I actually used FIFA to try to figure it out :lol

But I actually came across an article about Chelsea's 3-4-3 under Conte and it had me wondering about the formation since they're going through the whole defensive crisis.

The article was talking about how they would be using wing backs in a 3-4-3, and it had me thinking of FIFA with the 5-2-2-1 since that the only formation off the top of my head with wing backs.

But with what NorthOak just explained :

Thanks. Makes so much sense. I assumed the 3-4-3 had wing backs also.

So that would mean that a 5-2-2-1 would benefit Chelsea more than a 3-4-3 since Chelsea's back line at the moment isn't competant enough to have only 3 defenders in the back. With 5 back they'd have more coverage, but wing backs could also help in attack.

Not sure why the guy who wrote the article suggested wing backs in a 3-4-3 then

I guess my explanation was more in the literal sense imo using wing backs to refer to mids or wide players in a 3-4-3 certainly isn't wrong.

For me when you start to delve into the minutia of formations it can start to become pretty arbitrary and/or subjective.

I'm not familiar with Chelsea's system but the role of the RM/RWB in relation to the three CB's and midfield could be identical whether it's called a 3-4-3 or a 5-x-x

yeah it's basically the same thing...especially nowadays how formations change from when teams have the ball and don't have the ball

I.E.  Barcelona start off in a 4-3-3 then morph in to a 4-4-2 when they are on the defensive

and when they have long periods of possession they drop busquets back sometimes between the 2 CB's and push their wing backs very far up and wide

essentially turning in to a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 when messi drops back in the midfield.

basically it's really arbitrary cause in modern football the best teams change formations from defense to offense so much.

watching pep at bayern was truly fascinating the way he changed formations sooo much and he had the personnel to do it.

i wish we could get an in depth look at the top managers' tactics.  its amazing to watch.  Atletico right now is pretty fascinating because Simeone is having to change his attacking tactics to keep up with barca and real madrid. he's evolving his team and it's had some very mixed results.

Seamus Coleman would fit in perfectly in MLB culture :lol

The papers have him being Darmian's replacement in the winter so he better get used to seeing young flashy dudes :lol

I'd much rather see Timbo getting game time though tbh,not that Coleman not a good RB.

I've always wondered what happens when a legend of the game switches shirt with a below par player? Do they keep their shirts or toss them in a garbage can?

Lewandowski is a scumbag

All your favorite strikers are scumbags

Gotta do what it takes for that W

I'm sure they keep them out of love and respect for not only the players but the game.

Probably give them to friends or family members. Maybe even teammates
