But I don't think the civil war was about slavery.
I disagree with the tone of the article... They're making it seem like slavery wasn't that bad...
But I fully believe if Lincoln could win the war and keep black people as slaves... Hr would have

It was 100% about slavery. The declaration to secede said it was to preserve the institution of slavery
We can wonder what Lincoln would have done is theire was not a civil war, and dude was a racist himself, but the South definitely thought him being president signaled the being of the end

Lincoln's primary motivation was preserving the Union. He didn't like slavery, but if he could end the war with slavery intact, he would have done it.

But didn't Lincoln not sign the emancipation proclamation until several months into the war? Just to get more soldiers on his side?
