The pilot left in a car with the Benghazi national councill, taking with him the water and juice the family provided. They kept his helmet and the parachute.

A second plane strafed the field where the pilot went down. Hamid Moussa el-Amruni himself was shot, suffered shrapnel wounds in his leg and back, but he could still walk. He used an old broomstick as a crutch and said he held no grudge, believing it was an accident.

Every incident involving civilians is going to be an issue isn't it?

It's a WAR for crying out loud.. people are going to be hurt.

Obviously civilians being killed is going to be an issue. It's the reason many of the world leaders are giving for getting involved in Libya in the first place. Accidents do happen and I'm glad the man understands this and holds no grudge, but to flat out deny it happened is a dumb thing to do.

Anytime any innocent person whom died in a cross fire is a tragedy.  But lets face reality... thousands if not tens of thousands will be murdered and killed before this is over. That is the nature of war.  Human beings have been killing each other for how many years?
However my gripe is in this incident... no one was KILLED yet I am betting people will STILL make a big deal out of it.

We've seen Camp Lejuene marines in Iraq and Afghanistan and now they are joining the fight against Libya. 2200 marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or 26th MEU will take part. Their mission is to help end the violence directed at the Libyan people."In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told and right now that's protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces," said Captain Timothy Patrick, a marine with the 26th MEU.A press release from the 26th MEU reads, in part:"Protecting the innocent and conducting combined operations are what we are designed to do, our forces are doing both as part of the U.S commitment to protect Libyan citizens."Patrick says that marines from the 26th MEU are coming on the end of their deployment. They will be replaced with marines from the 22nd MEU.

"No ground troops."

You just never stop with your propaganda do you?  You do realize Marines are deployed on Navy Ships correct?  There are such things as Marine fighter pilots right?  Who do you think rescued those pilots when their Jet crashed?
Here's some FYI for you buddy...

Marine Expeditionary Units...

Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU, pronounced Myuu), formerly called Marine Amphibious Unit (MAU), is the smallest Marine Air-Ground Task Force in the United States Fleet Marine Force.[sup][1][/sup] Each MEU is an expeditionary quick reaction force, deployed and ready for immediate response to any crisis.[sup][2][/sup]

The Marine Expeditionary Unit is normally built around the building blocks of a MAGTF: a reinforced Marine infantry battalion is the ground combat element, theaviation combat element is a composite helicopter squadron, a battalion-sizedlogistics combat element, and a command element. Troop strength is about 2,200, commanded by a colonel, and is deployed from an amphibious assault ship.

The Ground Combat Element (GCE) is based around the Battalion Landing Team (BLT), an infantry battalion reinforced with an artillery batteryAmphibious Assault Vehicle platoon, combat engineerplatoon, light armored reconnaissance company, tank platoon, reconnaissance platoon, and other units as the mission and circumstances require. The total strength is approximately 1,100 members.

The reconnaissance platoon provides the basic element for the Maritime Special Purpose Force. This force consists of four elements. The assault platoon (a direct action platoon augmented from Force Recon), security (a selected infantry platoon from the battalion landing team), reconnaissance and surveillance assets, and a headquarters section. The total strength is approximately 350 Marines and sailors.

The Aviation Combat Element (ACE) is a Marine Composite Squadron (Reinforced) composed of aMedium/Heavy Helicopter Squadron augmented with three other types of helicopters, one detachment of amphibious flight-deck-capable jets, and a Marine Air Control Group Detachment with air traffic controldirect air support, and anti-aircraft assets.
Logistics Combat Element
The Logistics Combat Element (LCE) (formerly Combat Service Support Element or CSSE) contains all the logistics specialists and equipment necessary for the unit to support itself for 15 days in an austere expeditionary environment. It includes service support, medicaldental, maintenance, transportation, explosive ordinance disposalmilitary police, utilities production and distribution, bulk fuels, and other technical experts. It consists of approximately 300 Marines and sailors. This element is occasionally referred to as the MEU Service Support Group (MSSG).

The Command Element (CE), which includes the MEU commander and his supporting staff, provides command and control over the other three elements. It includes specialized detachments fornaval gunfirereconnaissancesurveillance, specialized communications, radio reconnaissance(SIGINT), electronic warfareintelligence and counterintelligence, and public affairs missions. The overall strength is about 200 Marines and sailors.
Expeditionary Strike Group
Expeditionary Strike Group Threeflotilla

Recently, MEUs have been deployed within an Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) in theMediterranean, the Western Pacific, and periodically, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. An ESG is typically composed of three amphibious ships that embark the necessary troops and equipment and are escorted by a guided missile cruiser (CG) and guided missile destroyers (DDG) and submarine(SSN) support.

Before the ESG, MEUs were typically deployed as part of an Amphibious Readiness Group

I ssee on CNN that they are going after Ghadafi's gold. Wolfe Blitzer also was going out of the way to suggest that we used Libya's frozen assets (in the billions) should be used to finance the attack

Follow-up: So how successful u think is the no fly zone?
aren't there reports of ground troops being deployed unofficially?
