UNDENIABLE Hip Hop Classic Albums (NO skips)/Albums considered Classic that aren't

Why do people keep saying The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a hip hop album? It's not.

Fam put canibus, lupe nd mos def above tupac nd big? Lol...

Outkast has no classics? 3k overrated?

Blueprint, reasonable doubt, life after death, all not classics?!? LIFE AFTER DEATH NOT A CLASSIC!?!

Were all entitled to our opinions but.....
Op u have zero.credibility from me for those statements alone...

Not putting Black Thought up there for lyrics is a fail..

Lupe has no business in a top 5, 10, or 20 debate..  IMO of course.

All of these artists have had their fair share of strong and weak moments..  But I think Common has had the most consistent run as an artist.  I sort of agree with what was said about Andre, but when he sits down and is straight rhyming, without the gimmicks..  There are few that can beat him.

I like Kanye for the most part, but he is not a true lyricist..  There have been very few times Kanye has wowed me with a verse, but he carried Jay on WTT IMO

Same people who called Take Care a classic.

@ Mexican rappers being at the bottom tier. Unfortunately, you have a point. Except Grimm could be considered the only exception, son was talented before he switched up his whole style copying Chingo Bling.
And Outkast having no classics is the dumbest %++# I've ever read.

It's a Hip Hop album. Not a RAP album though.

I consider Main Source "Breaking Atoms" a classic.

Oh another "what's your favorite hip hop album" thread in disguise.
No point in arguing over this stuff, it's all opinion. Like arguing over top 10 hottest women.

Illmatic

These are the only albums I don't skip a track on. There are other albums I consider classics, but they have tracks I skip

And why doesn't graduation get more love? I thought it was a very good album

Dead @ss serious. Dudes think he's a main eventer but he's a midcarder. He's Road Dogg status, Big Boi is Billy Gunn. Good tag team but not solo. I can't think of a rapper more overrated than him besides Jay-Z/Eminem but that's ONLY because they're considered the GOAT, when really they're not. Both are top 15 though. 3K isn't even top 20. We can break it down further:
Tier 0

Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem, Rakim, Kane, GZA, KRS, Lupe, Pun, Mos Def, Canibus

Tier 1

Tupac, Biggie, Ice Cube, Ghostface, Slick Rick, Scarface, AZ, Lord Finesse, Kool G Rap

Tier 2

Kanye, Raekwon, Andre 3000, DMX, LL Cool J, Beanie Sigel, 50, Cam

Tier 3

Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Twista, Mystikal, Nelly, Jeezy, Ross, Young Buck, Ja Rule

Tier 4

E-40, Silkk The Shocker, Lil B, Gucci Mane, Lil Boosie, Soulja Boi, Plies, Mac Dre, Mexican rappers

Rae borderline MK/U-God status? FOH.

Nah hear me out. GZA, Ghost, Deck, & Meth are better than Raekwon. You can't count RZA since he's a producer first, rapper second. So really, Rae is better than ODB, MK, & U-God. So he's borderline.

I was about to come bash you about "Braveheart Party", but did my research and realized he took it off his later version of the album. Nas must of known that song was garbage

Unfortunately, it still happened, I bought that version.

LOL @ "troll". There are lots of people that don't get the thread. This is STRICTLY for rap albums that have NO SKIPPABLE songs. How hard is this thread to follow?

Out of the albums I've listed, only 7 are in my favorite albums. You can have classic albums that have skips but that's not what this topic is about. For example, I listen to 2001, GRODT, Hell On Earth, Street's Disciple, & American Gangster more than most of the CD's I put up. Do I skip some songs on those albums? Hell yeah, but I still love them.

Look, there is NO WAY Canibus is better than BIG or Tupac. Those rankings are based on technical rapping skills, to prove why I called Andre 3000 the Road Dogg of rap.
I'd consider Immortal Technique a Tier 0 rapper but the dude is straight trash for the most part, he wouldn't even crack my top 100.
Three 6 Mafia & Project Pat are Lil Boosie status when it comes to rapping but they have classic tracks out the a*ss.
When it comes down to it, there are only THREE actual rap ARTISTS, and they are Tupac, Nas, & Kanye West. 'Ye & Pac aren't "lyrical" like Pun or Jay but their music is timeless.
All 3 are in different tier spots so the rankings don't mean sh*t when it comes to the top spots. There is a difference between best & favorite, like I said, it's all opinion.

Life After Death can be a classic to you, that's cool and all... but it has Biggie's worst three songs on the 2nd disc, how can anyone co-sign those songs?

Lupe Fiasco lost ALL hope in being top anything, he was on a roll based off the strength of his mixtapes & first 2 albums. Don't know why he f*cked it up for himself. Still the best rapper from the 2000's.

Mac Dre is just like Souljah Slim & Slim Dunkin. Trash when they were alive & s*cked off when they died. That's some demonic sh*t.

I love Outkast, I really do. I'd consider all their albums minus Speakerboxxx classics to near-classic, but they all have songs I skip over. Therefore, those albums don't count when it comes to this thread. I swear some of you are dense as hell. 3K is still the most overrated, followed by Jigga, and Jay is top 5.

And Black Thought is definitely Tier 0, can't believe I forgot him. That does not make him top 10 or anything. The Roots are a top 10 group though.

How can ANYONE co-sign trash like "Ain't No N*gga" off RD?!? Are you guys kidding me?

Agreed about Common. Him, Tupac, & Nas have the best overall discography in hip-hop history.

. Just stop. Have you even listened to all of Mac Dre's albums? Young Black Brotha and 15 Years Deep are easily classics with no skippable tracks, I can listen to both in their entirety and do so often. And that's just the young Mac Dre; that's not even getting into his later stuff and the hyphy/thizz movement.

I'm not saying he would fit in what you call "tier 0", but he's definitely not a "tier 4" artist, and definitely wasn't "trash" when he was alive...
indifferent.gif

I'd argue his work fits in your list of hip hop classic albums, but that's my personal preference.
