I have a red nexus 5...

And I'm calking it now...

This phone is absolute buns because the battery.

People always compliment me... But it's tough when you're on 22%
Flash a custom ROM built for battery conservation, under clock the CPU, and kill the wakelocks. Problem solved.

What setup is this and what kind of screentime are you getting with it?

Is that considered good battery on the N5 with a custom rom? 10 hours + (unless i read the picture wrong) on a full charge sounds cruddy. Is that with a on screen time of at least 3 hours +?

Sucks that it just isn't cutting it for him stock though.

If its not the battery on the Nexus 5;

If its not the touchwiz interface on Galaxy devices;

If its not the pixel density on the Xperia Z1/Z2;

Its always something. The stock experience, by design, is not meant to be a perfect fit for every individual user. Rather, the stock experience is suppose to offer a baseline for the phone's functionality while highlighting key features, and is configured within the constraints of that baseline, as decided by the developers and engineers of the phone. With as much as Fontaine talks about yambs, regardless of if he is: a.) talking to yambs b.) looking at yambs or c.) recording yambs, that screen is on and the battery is draining. For other people who don't have the screen on as much, the Nexus 5 battery might not be that big of a deal.

Some people say that customization is one of the downfalls of Android. To those people, I say "Buy an iPhone." You don't buy a tuner car, leave it stock, then get disappointed when modded cars are flying by you. The Nexus 5, aside from being a pure android device, is MEANT to be customized. Hell, it ships with an unlocked bootloader. :lol

If you want something that "just works," go for an iPhone. If you want something that you can customize and tweak to your needs? Go Android. But don't complain that your phone doesn't meet your needs, especially when: 1.) You bought the phone and 2.) You can customize it to the most minute detail that you could possibly imagine.

3 hours, 11 minutes, and 24 seconds (& counting!) Battery is currently on 11%.

The ROM is a custom build, but I flashed Franco's kernel and took it upon myself to rid the device of wakelocks (use BatteryPlus to help with this) and to underclock the CPU.

Yes. I'm very active on my phone (mostly posting on NT,) and screen time has been more than 3 hours for the day.

Are these considered high wake lock times? I'm at 30% off a hour and a half of screen time and I have no idea why.

Yep, it's a phone alright. Amazon officially unveiled the Fire Phone today at a special press event held in Seattle. Consistent with the rumors, Amazon's first ever phone has a 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass display with a HD resolution screen (we're assuming it's 720p). It also has a rubberized frame with aluminium buttons, a quad-core 2.2GHz processor, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. As for the camera, there's a 13-megapixel rear-facing one equipped with a f/2.0 lens and optical image stabilization. The phone's display will have 590 nits of brightness, dynamic image contrast and a "circular polarizer," though we're not entirely clear on what that means yet. There's also a dedicated camera key and luckily for all you photo addicts, it'll also come with unlimited cloud storage for photos.

As for sound, the Fire Phone touts dual stereo speakers along with support for virtual Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. It comes with earphones with tangle-free flat cables plus magnetic earbuds that clasp together. As you might expect, there are a boatload of entertainment-centric features too. There's Xray on the phone for 2nd screen functionality, ASAP support and the ability to fling videos to Miracast devices (like, you know, that Fire TV). Obviously it also supports all of the Prime offerings like Music and Video, plus you'll get Audible, the Kindle Newsstand and Comixology as well.

Stating how it's difficult to use phones these days, Bezos also announced that Mayday will be coming to the Fire Phone. That's the 24 / 7, 365 days a year live customer service support that the Kindle Fire has as well. Bezos said that Mayday will take less than 15 seconds to answer and will work over 3G/4G as well as WiFi. And, most importantly, it's free.

Here's something new: the Fire Phone will also ship with something called Firefly. It's a feature that uses the phone's camera to recognize books, DVDs, phone numbers, QR codes, CDs, URLs, games, bar codes and more. It also uses the phone's microphone to listen to songs too. From there, you can quickly tap a button to purchase that item from Amazon. Firefly can also recognize art. It pulled up a wikipedia entry for Cornflowers by Sergei Osipov, as well as Man with Red Hat by Vitrtore Carpaccio.

Have you tried GSam battery monitor to find the specific wake-lock?

I dont know what the hell 4.4.3 did but it improved my battery life dramatically. I can go 4hrs SOT easy every day now if I go heavy use. I was getting 8hrs battery life every day before the update. By 2pm my phone was already dead. Pissed me off.

I'm stock, rooted, greenify and on ART if that matters...

Amazon phone trash.

Its main "features" are having the screen move and being able to do what google goggles has been doing? foh with that amazon.

The specs are below average for a 2014 flagship (IMO) and the Fire skin is probably the worst there is.

Overall I give it a SOLID 4/10

This is really the best they can do?

You know what is ironic though, I bet that phone will run better over a longer period of time than 90% of Android phones.

That's only because there's a million android phones.. Against the higher end ones prolly not.

Will do. I'm not on stock, I'm running Kangakat and its a 4.4.3 build, but everytime I switch to ART, it goes back to Davlik at some point.

Ehh I've never had those problems but I've never used phones for over a year or two at a time nor did I ever buy dew dew stuff.

But no one can say this amazon phone will run better than 90% of android phones out right now :lol that's a ridiculous statement.
