You almost gotta have a case these days with how thin the bezels are
I've dropped my Note 3 so many times. All I have is a thin silicon case (which I love) and I'm really surprised nothing bad has happened to it. You take it out of the case and it looks brand new. It also helps that I've had the stock screen protector on it since day 1. That was actually one of my favorite features of the note 3 (I know it sounds weird) but having a screen protector on your phone from the moment you take it out of the box is simple yet genius. I HATED buying 3-packs of screen protectors just to mess up 2 trying to get 1 good one on.

Lol that's exactly how I rock mine. A $13 silicone case and the stock screen protector.

Only dropped it like twice though. Still looks brand new... :hat

it's ok. it's basically more retro style filters than anything. i haven't noticed any image improvement using its camera

i just use photoshop express & snapseed, but camera awesome is a really excellent app (if you can get it to work for your particular android model)
I have a Galaxy Note and a Oneplus One. With the update to KitKat and the use of VSCO Cam, I''v noticed a difference in the quality of the photos I've taken.

Yep. eBay Silicon case all day. Phone's in mint condition. Thought about selling it to try something new.

I'm happy the fad of extra bulky case protectors is dying.

I used to swear by a case protector after dropping my phone (and cracking screen) twice. But now that I've gotten used to gripping my phone, I go completely bare and haven't had any problems.

Galaxy Note 4 will finally bring you the build quality you want from Samsung

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 4 flagship smartphone will finally have a higher build quality than any of its predecessors – or at least one version of the new phablet supposedly will. Korean publication ET News has learned from sources familiar with the matter that the Galaxy Note 4 will be made of metal, sport a flexible display and pack a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS).

Samsung is reportedly experimenting with various material choices, including stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium and plastic for the phone’s case, although only the premium Galaxy Note 4 is likely to get a metal case. In other words, plastic will still be part of the Galaxy Note 4’s design, for at least one version of the phablet.

As for its display, it’s not clear how big the Galaxy Note 4’s screen will be at this time, but the publication says Samsung has stepped up flexible display production by more than 50%. A previous report suggested that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 will come in two versions, one with a flexible display and one with a regular screen, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a premium Galaxy Note 4 that will have a metal case and flexible display, and a “regular” handset that will feature a plastic case and a non-flexible display – however, that’s just speculation at this point, as Samsung has yet to unveil the handset.

Finally, the camera of the device will be a 16-megapixel shooter with OIS, rather than the 12-megapixel Samsung initially chose.

The Galaxy Note 4 is going to be the first Samsung phablet that will have to face a similarly sized iPhone in stores in September, when both devices are supposed to be unveiled.

This is probably going to be the dumbest question to some of you but let's say I was to root my G3 like in the method described in this link:

Am I still able to download apps from the play store and have them work? I ask because the last time I rooted my GS3 and flashed the paranoid android rom I couldn't use certain apps from the playstore so I went back to stock. Now I'm thinking it might have been because I flashed the custom rom.

Again I'm new to this whole root business. I want to root my G3 when I get it but I'm afraid I'll mess up and then it'll be useless.

That Note 4 gonna be Nasty. :x

I chose da G3 over da S5. That screen just won me over but T-Mobile is da business with dat unlimited.

Xposed on this thang is da business. :hat

Great pickup, excellent phone. Yeah I love my S5, but people need to stop sleeping on that G3 and give it the props it deserves as the first readily available QHD phone. Had it been Sammy or Apple you wouldn't hear the end of it.

You should be fine if all you're doing is rooting, go for it.

Unless apps are not able to run on root (which is extremely unlikely), yes, they will download and work on your phone just fine.

I'm really impressed with the fitness functions baked into the S5. My workouts include running, sprinting, high intensity interval training, and weights. I definitely use the heart rate monitor and it's pretty accurate, also it tracks your run and has readouts on distance, the actual route you ran, the elevation of your route and speed info. Sure I had the Nike + App on my iPhone that does the same thing, but I like how integrated this is. Apple was smart to copy this and include it in iOS 8
