your paying more money for a nexus one/nexus s cuz it can do things like this:

Download links for Google’s official Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread updates for the Nexus S and Nexus One have been unearthed, meaning owners of the two official handsets no longer have to wait until the OTA package is offered to them. xda-developers discovered the two downloads and wasted no time in confirming them as real.

The two links are below, and there are details on mirror servers at the above link in case the official downloads are too slow for you. Let us know how you get on in the comments!

Damn life just got better for the EVO

"What is this:
FullHDMI is an app that mirrors the Evo screen onto an external display using the HDMI port on the phone.

Current Status:
The app is currently in public beta. Anyone can participate in this phase and everybody's observations are appreciated. This beta phase is not forever, however, and will expire when the app is ready to be released. This timeline is dictated by how stable the app is for the next stage."

HDMI out is now HDMI out!!!!

Follow this method... http://forum.xda-develope.../showthread.php?t=858996

Use Root Explorer, which you have to buy from the Android market to place the gFree file in data/local
-I placed all the files of the gFree folder into the data/local, lmk what problems you have.

Honestly it took me a whole day because I was unfamiliar with the MT4G so I didn't know about using Terminal Emulator and what not.  It's pretty simple don't let all the wording bother you.  Your main concern is just getting the gFree file into the right location, which is data/local and it's not on your SD CARD!  If you can get that just follow the steps from here... it's simple.  It'd take me 15 minutes to do it.  Try it and let me know where you get stuck at.

Optionally, you could dl the file to your phone use androzip or something like it to unzip the file and then use root explorer to move the file named gfree to /data/local. Not the gfree.h file. All the other files are source code inlcuded for the gnu license. This would skip the first 4 steps.

5. Now unplug your device from the computer.

6. Run visionary to gain temp root. (If you were already permarooted w/s=off ignore this step.)

7. Open terminal emulator on your device, type "su", and hit enter to gain root privileges.

8. Type "cd /data/local" and hit enter.

9. Now type "chmod 777 gfree" and hit enter to make the program executable.

10. Type "./gfree -f" and hit enter.

I found this interesting ad in Android central, maybe an EVO 2 imminent and sprint is getting rid of the old EVO as quick as possible since ctia is coming up later this month.
