Bulls blew a 16/17 point 4th quarter lead against the Raptors.... :{

Might stroll by the game tonight, but losing 4 out of 5 after losing 4 out of the previous 22 (even though they won a few games they had no business winning) is making 50 wins look farrrrrrrrrrrr and distant.

Wizards announce they'll wear their Stars and Stripes uniforms for all home playoff games

I actually prefer their standard uniforms.

A basketball team representing the city of Washington is already something that should bring everyone together.  The jerseys were already red, white, and blue.  The alternate logo incorporates the Washington Monument.  Nobody was accusing the Wizards of being unpatriotic.

Personally, I think the "military tribute" stuff comes across as pandering.  It feels forced, a marketing appeal based on the large number of military personnel and contractors in the area.  Home games dedicated to a specific service branch no more "honor" those branches than "college night" "honors" college students.  If it's really sacred, you don't use it as a ploy to sell tickets/merch.

I like the stars/stripes because it says "Washington" across the chest and not "wizards."

Petty, but yea....

That is an interesting disparity.  The current road uniforms say "Washington," but the home jerseys do not.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a global branding/"borderless marketing" thing.  Fans in other regions (if such a bandwagon were ever to form) would care more about John Wall and the Wizards than Washington.

Given the organization's history, it's difficult to avoid viewing these decisions through anything other than a cynical lens.

This is supposed to be an incentive?

Even so, I'd still love to get 50 wins.  The division title was pretty much my highest aspiration for this team over the past few seasons.  #strugglegoals

SALT LAKE CITY -- John Wall ripped into the referees after his Washington Wizards lost to the Utah Jazz 95-88 on Friday night, and a fine from the league could be coming.

The All-Star guard got his 15th technical foul of the year in the third quarter when he made contact with his right hand just below Rudy Gobert's belt while fighting around a screen. Wall entered the night with the third-most technicals in the league.

Wall also was upset because the Jazz shot 31 free throws compared to 16 by the Wizards.

"I haven't been saying nothing to the refs lately because I know what situation I've been in, but the way they've been officiating today doesn't make no sense," Wall said. "You shoot 31 free throws to 16. We're an aggressive team that attacks the basket. That don't make no sense. I had to get [my arm] bandaged up because I'm bleeding and the ref tells me that's not a foul. It's getting out of hand.

"We didn't lose this game. The refs made us lose this game. We fought hard to give ourselves a chance. But you don't shoot 31 free throws to 16 the way we attack the basket as a team. That's how I feel about it."

Wall said he has tried unsuccessfully to get some of his technical fouls rescinded this season.

"Other players have and they got it," he said. "All I can do is keep my mouth shut like I've been doing. I could have seen if I would have got a flagrant 1 for that, but a technical foul for that -- that's outrageous."

Coach Scott Brooks wasn't pleased either.

"They said that it was a 'hostile act,'" Brooks said. "I've been around a lot of fights back when I played, and come on. A hostile act? Really? It's ridiculous. We have to control our emotions, but he was playing defense. ... He went through a screen. The guy set a great screen.

"If anything, it's accidental contact," he added. "It's not my job to make those decisions. I have to coach the team. That's a hard enough job as it is. Players have to play. Officials have to official. I have a lot of respect for league, and obviously that's not a T."

The Wizards were called for 23 fouls compared to 18 on the Jazz.

"It happens throughout the whole course of the basketball game, guys were fighting over screens," Wall said. "It wasn't like I ran into him and hit him on purpose and just stopped. I didn't know what happened. I kept playing."

"The ref said it was a technical foul. There wasn't nothing exchanged between us, so I was just fighting over a screen and I didn't know I hit him in any area. I just kept playing basketball."

- ESPN
Since we've been watching the team all season, we know the refs haven't been favorable to the Wiz so I can understand Wall's frustration, but I think this just paints a target on the team heading into the playoffs. In addition, he's now one regular season technical away from a suspension with the team fighting for playoff position.

What I don't understand is how he received a tech, I'm pretty sure that could only have been ruled a flagrant since it was during a live play.

I don't blame Wall for speaking out. He's a superstar player who doesn't get calls. Meanwhile a player like James Harden can jump on defenders backs and get a foul called in his favor. It's disgusting.

Someone in the NBA thread posted a list of teams and bad or missed calls against them or something. Wizards were 1st on that list.

You have a pic of the list or know roughly when it was posted? I'd be curious to see that

well that road trip ended horribly, do not like what I saw from this team against good competition. The ball is not moving hardly enough anymore and Morris/Gortat have been invisible

Now to just finish off the season and hope we draw Atlanta in round 1, that would be perfect since they're playing pretty damn bad

This is news that was simply unfathomable to me. Wow.

I guess Christy Winters-Scott takes Phil's spot.

That sucks...Phil and Buck were staples of my childhood up until now. If CWS is the replacement, she's got big shoes to fill...however, she's FANTASTIC with his insight/knowledge of the game. Might be a slight adjustment period, but I think Wizards fans will not only respect the job she does, but also enjoy it.
