I respect this decision tbh.
After Shang-Chi, they have been calling on him to do everything, so he must have realized he can't handle the opportunity given his other tasks. Shang-Chi was great, so I was looking forward to his contributions on KD though.

I think the Loki finale, allows them to pivot away from him if need be.
But i think so far they are continuing with the current plan until the new court decision happens. So if he is found guilty, thats when i expect them to drop him.
If they do move forward without him, they just need to re-cast. Makes no sense to abandon the storyline.
