I believe about 2-3 years ago he signed an extension for like 6 years with the Nuggets instead of waiting until this summer like Lebron & Wade did, was that a smart decision now that we look back on it?

He said he was from the hood so he wasnt gonna leave all that money on the table, or something like that. I remember reading about thisOriginally Posted by RoOk

Assuming that Wade, Bosh, LeBron and Melo all end up playing the same amount of years, the first 3 will have earned more money over the course of their careers than Melo.Originally Posted by I NaSmatic I
Well he's making the max right now and going to be the headliner of the 2011 (or 2012) free agent class.

There is way more earning potential in what Wade, Bosh and LeBron are doing (sign 4 year contracts, opt out after the 3rd year...sign max contracts) than what Melo did (sign for the maximum allowed for restricted free agents back in 2006).
No, LeBron did it to increase his earning potential...same reason why Bosh and Wade did the same thing.Originally Posted by agold1002

who would want to play on that team for another 4 years if they didnt make any moves...LBJ only did it to put pressure on the front office.
yeah and as mentioned he wasnt in the same class back than but it DEF panned out to be the smart move. He has been making max longers all these years while Bron, Wade, Bosh, etc havent AND he will be the prime target for EVERY team missing out this summer, not 2 or 3, pretty much hes bound to make max $ again, either in Denver or elsewhere. Also in Denver he probably has a better supporting case than any other player in his class and DEFINITLEY the best #2 outta anyone in Billups. Nuggets are troubleOriginally Posted by I NaSmatic I
