Bruh, I have a LT who makes as much as my chief, the dude pulls 90+ hour weeks tho. He just got divorced and said if he's just gonna sit at home, he might as well be making as much money as possible. Easily brings in $150K.

But here in Vegas, it's opposite... The County/City department makes more than the State department.
Also add our Casinos' revenue to our budget.

Most PDs only require a diploma.
I understand the job has it's dangers, but eh, I don't care for the salary schedules we OK for cops in this country.

I make around $36-38k as a hydroponic greenhouse manager. It's not much, but my first job out of school and I had very little experience before I was hired. The congressman in my county only pulls in around $29k I think

You know how many recruits I've trained, how many people I've seen quit on the first week after Academy because they weren't mentally built to deal with what they saw go down on the streets or how to deal with inmates on prison/jails.
Also you make it seem I'm bringing home $100k+ off the bat... Nobody in this department is making that bread without overtime or unless you been on the department 15+ years (longevity)

~Around 40K for me, living in Kansas City. Definitely easy to live off that in Kansas City...I work for a major sports company and majored in Sports Management at KU.

Bonuses and OT are generally taxed higher I believe and it's in part because it is considered an add'tl pay period.

i always though you were taxed as if you got that each pay period...
for instance...
if you get 10k bonus..
its as if you get 10k every check, so you're taxed as if you make 260k a year.
yeah, it's something to that effect...so if you don't want it to be taxed as high you could change your exemptions prior to help offset some of that I believe.

In an internship I had they adjusted the rate of our relocation stipends to be what they promised after tax. So we were given a relocation bonus of $2000, but the check for it was like $2600+ something.
