Whats wrong with ESPN?

ESPN had it made for decades. I hope they have a backup plan. Subscriber revenue was their golden goose for years and they dont seem fit for change.

I do feel bad for ESPN news. Its been years since I saw SC. They wanted to change it up a bit and I feel that it was a bad decision. Scores, highlights, right to the point news. LESS entertainment is what people want.. It's why twitter highlights of key plays are trending in the hundreds of thousands.

For me personally, college basketball is the one sport I 95% gave up on watching live. The commercialism of it is so bad I really don't know how you could be a player playing in a game having to run back to your bench every 5 minutes to sit down for another timeout (seriously, imagine playing this way). There is no fluidity to the sport with the Non-stop team timeouts and TV timeouts.

Have legit not watched an NCAA game foreal since kemba won. Used to love college hoops. Generic as hell now.

I feel like as soon as Disney gets from under their current contract obligations, they'll move to a subscription based stand alone or just continue to work w/ the Slings, Youtube Tvs, Hulus, etc. That's where the money is at this point.

It has been widely reported for weeks that big cuts are coming to ESPN—so widely reported, and dissected, and gossiped about, in fact, that ESPN moved up its schedule and is notifying people earlier than it originally planned.
The 100 people getting cut are all “on-air talent,” a label ESPN uses for TV personalities, radio hosts, and writers who regularly appear on TV and radio. (ESPN says it has 1,000 such people, prior to these cuts.)
In addition to those 100, a “limited number of other positions will also be affected,” according to a note sent to all employees on Wednesday morning from ESPN president John Skipper.

Now its

- Kickoff, commercial, change of possession, commercial, any time out, commercial, 2 min warning, commercial, challenge flag, commercial, on and on and on

One of the main reasons I HATE NFL/American football (outside of the handful of players I keep track of). It's already an extremely slow game, and then you have the constant spam of commercials making it 10X worse. Nah, I have better things to do than sit on the couch like a fat @#$ for 3-4 hours for ONE GAME. I have no idea how some of you spend entire Sundays watching this @#$@

It's already an extremely slow game, and then you have the constant spam of commercials making it 10X worse. Nah, I have better things to do than sit on the couch like a fat @#$ for 3-4 hours for ONE GAME. I have no idea how some of you spend entire Sundays watching this @#$@

I can't sit through a whole game of any sport. Too many breaks in the action and the rules make the game unwatchable. 90s era > than today. Hand checking in the NBA plus no babies allowed and violence in the NFL for everyone on the field.

Sports bars have spoiled me. I like the fact that on Saturdays and Sundays during football season there will always be action taking place on at least one screen. I don't mind keeping my head on a swivel. About the closest you'll get to continuous action.

It's even cool during basketball season too.

Shocked at this one. As much as I disliked Dilfer I can't cheer people losing their jobs.

Some of the more notable personalities could generate a nice revenue stream by simply upstarting a podcast and charging a subscription fee, if they aren't already. You don't just walk away from ESPN without any networking contacts, relationships and inability to obtain information that others may find of value. On top of that, some of these guys, and ladies, just have loyal supporters would lend them their ear on general principle.
