Whats wrong with ESPN?

I'm just not really into sports anymore. Still follow my teams, but for some reason lost interest in sports. NFL primetime games have been horrible for a long time now though.

Disney owning ESPN is the problem. No pundits and analysts can really speak their mind. They are caged and filtered. It's just not entertaining and exciting because everything is predictable that comes out of these reporters mouths. ESPN only saving grace is their new flagship show, "First Take".

They can speak their minds, it just depends on the subject. Going hard at the nfl will get you in trouble like bill simmons. Papi is somehow immune. That's why he's so entertaining. He talks crap about everybody and goodell too.

Even in the offseason every afternoon there is 2 hours or more worth of NFL programing

I mean I like football, but I feel ESPN drives it into the ground

Highly Questionable, His and Hers are all on the dvr.

Radio: it's just Dan LeBatard, Stugotz, Bomani with the occasional Jalen & Jacoby and or Iz & Spain if the train is running late.

But I've cut back significantly on the whole ESPN thing.

I don't watch SC nearly as much as I used. Simply because I don't have the time to wait for something I want to see. Kills me how they have the time slots on the left of the screen and I see something that actually looks interesting...but it's in 35 mins.

I like some of the E60 stuff and investigative stuff but they don't do as much of that anymore.

I know **** is ridiculous. They will have NFL insiders NFL fantasy etc on multiple channels what's the point of having two NFL shows on at the same time. First Take is all about football, can't even catch one baseball highlight and it's the world series.

If you guys have any of the major cable subscriber, it won't hurt to call them and tell them you want to cancel. They'll most likely try to entice you to stay. I use to pay $110 for cable and I only watched 2-3 channels. When I told them I wanted to cancel, they offered to lower it down to $45.

It was a great deal, but a slap in the face since I've been over paying for so many months, I still cancelled.

i started watching Undisputed w/ Skip and Shannon and all I see are old ESPN analysts who made the jump to FS1.

even the celebrities/former athletes used to always be on First Take are coming over.

Lets be honest. Espn will NEVER be the same without Stuart Scott

Man, in Europe and Asia you can order the channels you want to watch for $10-$20 each. I only watch 3 sports channels as well, and to get them on TV I need to pay $100 over here for 400 channels I never touch :x My apartment building has free cable with all the channels in a common room so I just watch everything there :lol

Cable companies have ridiculous pricing. We should have the option to get rid of channels we don't watch and get our bill lowered.

Gets boring watching them break down a football game for the 100th time

all i need is one viewing of sportcenter @ midnight and ill catch PTI if i come home early from work.

It should be noted that Sportscenter is basically all about visuals at this point. Why? Because every bar in America has it on all night. The commentary is basically unnecessary. I can't even tell you the last time I actually sat down and watched SC at home with audio.

Someone I forgot who wrote about 24 hour media channels and had some good points. They are made for major events. They have resource and talent to handle major events with complete coverage and analysis. When there is a major disaster, election, or world event you turn on CNN for update info because the event deserves that kind of attention. Same thing applies to sports, Draft Day, First day of free agency, March Madness, World Cup etc.

But when those type of events aren't going on, those channels lose their appeal. CNN repeats the news at the top of the hour every hour until something comes along, same with ESPN. The rest of that time is built on opinion that truthfully most viewers just don't find important enough to watch.

ESPN was what it was back in the day because there was nothing else, they set the standard and we accepted what they gave us, cause where else we gonna go? They have been giving the same thing for the last 20 years just calling it a different name every time.

Yeah we got the Internet for highlights, but brand loyalty is a crazy thing. Despite what a lot of people tend to believe about themselves ESPN is a opinion leader in terms of sports and what's deemed important in that world. Something happens most of us turn their first to watch about it. To me it hasn't fallen off, most of us receive our news differently now and we don't need them as much as before. We notice the fluff on CNN, ESPN etc more cause all we need from them nowadays are the facts. The rest is just white noise they make to fill the time until something important happens again.

stephen a smith and his show became irrelevant last year when he stated that tony parker is a better PG than john wall..

had to stop watching after that nonsense.
You stopped watching because you dont understand basketball? Sounds backwards b
