8gb RAM + Intel[emoji]174[/emoji] QX9300 45nm "Montevina" Core[emoji]8482[/emoji]2 Quad 2.53GHz w/12MB

or

12gb RAM + Intel Core i7 Quad Extreme (Nehalem) 975 3.33GHz 8MB

Need a heavy processor for architectural renderings/ heavy imaging.

12 gigs of ram..

im still on my 03' 512MB, its still poppin

Intel Core i7 Quad Extreme is going to cost you a pretty penny

i will go with a Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920 or a Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz

i think having more than 6 gigs of ram is overkill

I got an AMD Athlon II x4 Processor with 6GB of ram. I was looking into it before and Athlon is the best one for the best price (my price range at least)

Go with 6 or 9 GBs, i know you're rendering, but rendering doesn't take 12 GBs.
You're lucky if you're pushing 6.
And slow RAM monday? I don't think so.

i7 920 with 9gigs of ram and a GeForce 260 GTX is what I'm getting next while dual monitoring asus vh236h. Mass Effect 2 here I come

Both will probably be more than adequate, the i7 is easily superior but i can guarantee the core 2 quad is a better bang for your buck. I personally wouldn't get an i7 until they came down in price, much like what has happened to the core 2 quad. They'll be close to 1/2 price this time next year.

i5-750 ftw!

but yea..second combo is better.

even better...build your computer. just need to buy the parts and put it together. guides are all online.

second option ftw. ive seen machines with that specs render and theyre just rapido. im actually jealous that youre goin to use something like that for your renderings
