White Cement IV Returning Spring/Summer 2025

I kinda get it if you’re still in grade school or college maybe.

But as an adult, where do you be at where the majority of people around you are wearing sneakers?

Occasional trips to the mall? Grocery stores?

Even with huge GR releases like BC3s and Columbia 11s, I don’t see a bunch of people out in the wild wearing them when I step out.

I’m genuinely curious if A: You’re over 21 and B: where you be hangin out at?

If I’m being completely honest the only people who compliment my shoes are my high school student’s.

They’re the ones who know and care about the resell price on a shoe.

IM JUST SAYING. The “You ain got these” mindset goes away once you’re an adult for most people.

I'm 39, who has the time to even look at other dudes feet/fit lol. If I'm heading out to run errands, grocery etc, my mindset is to be in n out with as little effort as possible. 90% throw on my Air Stuff my foot into easily Max and go about my day. If ever I do see someone with the same shoes on as me, I like it.

Standing out with your sneakers used to be like common sense to sneakerheads. Nowadays people act like they can’t even comprehend such a blasphemous sentiment, acting like everything should be accessible to everybody at all times lmao tf happened to NT

You're not wrong. The entire sneaker culture is based off of "Where'd You Get Those? The exclusivity is a big part of what built the sneaker culture.

Unfortunately for you preaching this, is that you're on Niketalk......where it's mostly us old and washed dudes.

It’s been an obsession and an addiction for years. I can truly say that it’s the one thing in my life that’s 100% for ME. Maybe 99% because it’s fun to share with you guys and those alike.
It definitely changes a bit when you get older or just overall different stages in your life.

I have to find time and places to where these kicks if it's not work. Same applies for even the clothes I have.

It's just nice to have it.

This x1000... I can count on 1 hand how many times I've seen 2024 BC3s on foot since release and I work in NYC

I always wonder if everyone just buys kicks to put in their closet or flex on the gram cause I don't even see the super mass produced pairs in the wild like that much less "coveted heat"

This is how I've been for a loooong time. I remember it being cool for me to be the first with a pair or whatever, but I got over that quickly. At this point, I like what I like and I'm just happy if I can get those pairs.

Sneaker exclusivity is definitely an age thing. When i was a teenager I cared. Im mid 30s now and dont care at all and I think thats how majority of folks in here feel. I think dude may just be young.

That’s what I don’t get. If you’re old and been in this game for a long time then you know people didn’t used to camp out overnight just because they thought it was fun to freeze their butts off while sleep deprived. If you know that it’s always been about exclusivity then why would you still act all shocked and disappointed when new releases … are still exclusive lol. It’s like yall just been tweakin for 20+ years straight

It seems like back in the day (before my time) people wanted a sneaker if everybody had them. So they would fit in and didn’t miss out. Nowadays, it’s the opposite. People only want things if others don’t have them. It has flipped

We camped out because they wanted the shoes. Only pair I’ve ever camped out for was a GR. Exclusivity mattered when I was under 21. At this stage, I buy only what I like, retail only. If I get them, great, if not there will be another pair. I’m from the era where the mom and pop shops backdoored pairs all day lol, we didn’t have to camp out, had them 2 weeks early lol.

Never camped out a day in my life.

Best you get out of me is pulling up to the spot a hour before they open.

My nights too precious lol
It was a vibe I won’t lie. It was absolutely something only a kid could rationalize though lol. I had missed out on every holiday 11 and wasn’t missing out again. I’m so happy for the online experience for the most part.

Yea the purpose of camping out was to make sure you got your pair . . . because pairs were LIMITED.

And it doesn’t matter if you still care about exclusivity or not. The point is yall know it’s always been like this so quit acting all surprised and indignant saying exclusivity is “unfair” or “unjust”.

Instead of camping out these days apps just made it possible for the whole world to “campout” virtually, at the touch of a button on your phone. So if anything blame technology because the game at its core essence hasn’t changed.

When I got into sneakers, it was not about exclusivity. It was simply about the desire to have them. Your friends had them, your peers had them. They were expensive, parents didnt want to buy at those prices for a growing kids foot. We all have these stories. It was NOT about rarity. That was 1990. I assume you were being potty trained at this point. I am not saying the rarity of a kick was not a thing, but to say that was all it was only about back then is truly incorrect.
