It's close but I think French gets the W. He's on all the big name songs and albums. They're on his mix tapes. A$AP is popping too and his album did big numbers. They're both one dimensional as **** though :x

ASAP album leaked over a month and did pretty well. If that happened to French i don't think he would do as well. I don't know i just don't like how French switch his sound to a more southern sound or has he always been that way? I'm no ASAP fan but i actually enjoyed the album maybe because i didn't have any expectations.

ASAP hands down. Hip hop extends beyond the geographic location of NYC. Rocky is known worldwide, not just in some clubs.

For club bangers French. For more lyrical songs Asap. I'll go with Asap though because French rap style sometimes irritates me.

French has always had that sound, he's turned it up a little more the last 2-3 years though.

A$AP album leaking that early and selling in January is weird to me. I don't believe those numbers because albums don't sell in January. It raises suspicion but could be legit.

Rocky & French in two different lanes i dont know why the comparison

Two southern style rappers from NY, both blew up in 2012 and signed a major deal......seems like they're in the same lane to me son

Basically, them dudes in da same damn intersection :lol

And both been on tim westwood, hell french is Moroccan, so that international appeal

Is a wash between em. Da slurpin is blatant whoever says a$ap is ringing off in NYC more then French,

Because its not even close.

I get what you saying about that but he does have a core fan base like someone said the under 25 group. In addition the shorties like ASAP you know he appeals to that Hipster crowd. Can French make other songs other than club songs because it seems like that's all what he's trying to make. Does French Montana have core fan base that will support him no matter what? I feel like if French didn't make them club joints then he wouldn't be getting as much play. Just my two cents.

I'm not in NYC but i will say in Chicago A$ap gets more love than French in my age demographic. I'm pretty sure they play French more in the clubs but outside of that over majority of my age bracket is rocking with A$AP the Hipster Girls love him over here lol

Ninja, your judgement is warped from what I can only assume is the Heights bias. French gets WAY more love in the Heights, in the barbershops, in most whips uptown. Its even true rocky don't get as much love as you might expect in Harlem. But at the end of the day, Rocky much more popular overall in NY & throughout the country.

French just doesn't have the same broad appeal. Streets mess with Rocky to a degree, but so do the hipsters, and white girls, and I'm sure lot of people in the burbs. Can't say the same for Fenchie, who has no appeal to any demographic right now outside the streets.

I know he has made other songs that aren't club joints but those joints don't get mad burn like that. I have quartine and know he can dabble in it. How come he doesn't make more songs like "New York Minute"

hipsters and white girls are a SMALL sub group compared to da streets, if we did a political map da "streets" would swallow up da hipster and white

girl crowd whole, there is NO PLACE in NYC outside soho where a$ap rocky is killing it more then french montana, and if you scaled those same demographic

up to include da tri-state era it would be a even bigger land slide to french, and if included da south it would be even larger of a margin of victory.

i dont doubt one bit a$ap is hotter then french is certain parts of california with those tumblr fixie bike hipster lames, but in da streets and in da clubs

which is a more populated demographic its no question who's killing it.

The leak helped because at the time of the leak, 'Problems' was losing steam and they couldn't keep dropping singles . . . so it leaked and it was a quality album, especially for the low expectations that Rocky had . . . so people went out and supported it

Rocky dropped in January, da WEAKEST month for record sales...did you see what

His contemporaries did that week? Lulz.

Had french drooped when he was supposed to and pop that was unleashed he would've rode

That wavey lane straight to da bank.

Asap callin kathy griffin wavy..gee, wonder where he got that from? >D

I hear ya Ninja but A$AP has been performing on Letterman and Coachella. If you were to ask an average white person either of their names, they probably wouldn't know. Although 8/10 they'd most likely know Rocky. Rocky has just had more exposure.

picking certain venues to do =/= more exposure

da elephant in da room in here is apparently ya rap fans got da white demographic on a pedestal.

i remember what we called those rappers back in da day.....pssh

Man Rocky is way bigger than french nationally, that's not even a knock on French tho cuz he's been doing his thing too. There are a bunch of ****** over 25 that bump Rocky in nyc. I'm positive that when French album drop It won't even break 100k

Bro, you just said the streets outnumbered white girls, let alone hipsters. If we're talking general popularity or anything that can be measured in actual numbers, its females and kids from the burbs. In a landslide.

Cmon, son, you can't be serious.

when the venues you choose are the venues that are getting sold out, it does = more exposure...

as for putting the white demographic on a pedestal... seems like youre puttin french on a pedestal more than anything

what does it ******g matter?! we should be glad at the fact that 2 of the hottest rappers are from NY :hat

if i had to pick, It be French tho hannnnnnn

If you go by numbers rocky is the hottest his album is selling well even after being leaked a month in advance. Plus he has a platinum single. Oh and he's tourin with one of the biggest female artist in the game. Harry's beats with a diddy n Ross co sign doesn't make u the hottest. Action Bronson = best out of NYC
