We're already seeing the next group of young stars of the league with Curry, Harden, Durant, Westbrook, Kyrie, AD, Lillard, Paul George, Cousins, Blake Griffin, Klay and Wall...so idk what the definition of a "megastar" is but it would definitely be one of them.

a megastar is truely someone that is recognizeable outside of their sport honestly blake i feel had that appeal n stephen curry as well but AD to me has potential to be that as well. i had my mom tell me i saw that funny guy from the kia commercial play hes a good dunker

This. So far curry had one great season. Jordan was great since his first season where he averaged 28.2 ppg. When MJ won his first title with the Bulls he was 27 and averaged 31.5 ppg in that season. MJ became finals MVP where he averaged 31 ppg and 11 apg and shooting over 51% from the field. How did curry perform? Oh yeah, iguadala became finals mvp.
Curry is a great player but predicting him reaching jordan status is clearly overhyped.
He first needs to reach kobe or lebron status. At the moment i see him at the level of Dwayne wade in his younger years.

some of these namesbeing listed as megastars are crazy but all stats and basketball stuff aside wat made MJ a megastar was not jus the fact that on the basketball court he was amazing but the fact that no matter where you lived you couldnt turn on a tv and not see him whether it was a nba game, a commercial, space jam, one of his video games, air jordan clothes and sneakers, items with his face name or likeness. and so far since him only kobe and lebron have reach that status to where they are household names currently other than them there is no one like that but you can kind of see the potential of that in some players especially curry bc of the exposure that he recieves

Homer pick but again if the Clippers ever win one, Blake Griffin is primed to be a megastar. Has the comedic and acting shops that white america loves, plays a high flying style of ball that's easy to sell, plays in Los Angeles, easy on the eye, could definitely see it being him.
Steph Curry definitely could be in the running too. I don't know if we've seen enough of him off the floor for him to become a megastar however.

blake has potential but he would need like a movie or something to finally push him over if they did space jam 2 with him as the lead he is golden n def not enuff exposure yet for steph but its coming more commercials more magazine covers n just getting him more comfortable being in that role

People that are in the NBA right now? AD maybe? Who knows. He will be a great player but that doesn't make you a MEGAstar. His unibrow isn't being marketed as properly as it could be, I am dead serious. That could be his draw/flaw into grasping the attention of casual fans.
Steph? Nah. He just won a title and grandmothers don't know him. He will be lucky to EVER see another finals, so this might be his peak. Might be, I don't know, but it COULD be his peak.

I am essentially saying that if Steph isn't a megastar NOW, right after winning a ring, I wouldn't bet on it ever happening.

I don't even know if that's a huge deal in the NBA. Players of various ethnic backgrounds have been stars in the league, their popularity doesn't seem helped or hindered by that. Sports is the ultimate egalitarian industry,

I'm confused at Steph not being a megastar. 52.8% of his shots in the 2015 playoffs were 3pt FG's and he shot 42% from three - and didn't win NBA Finals MVP because it's called NBA Finals MVP and not NBA Playoffs MVP.
In the 2015 regular season:
- He was No. 2 in FGM, and not in the Top 20 for 2-Pt FGA.
- He was 1st in FT% (91.4)
- He was 6th in PPG, 6th in APG, and 4th in SPG, 3rd in PER, 15th in defensive win shares (he's not somebody who should be known for his defense, but he's come a LONG way since his frail-framed rookie season in that regard). All of these stats aren't out of nowhere. Go back to the 2013-14 season, and see where he ranks on the very same leader boards.
Since you're not in favor of him being Top 5-15 in every category imaginable for a guard, my guess is you think being mixed is an advantage.
