News reports are stating that El Hijo took the initial spot in the trachea and experienced whiplash. He was later transported to a nearby hospital in Mexico. Newspaper El-mexicano.com reported El Hijo died around 1:00 AM local time.

TJ Perkins, also known as Manik, tweeted the following earlier this morning:

Life goes so fast man. I can’t believe some of us pack our bags and don’t make it home.

Just seen the video on RSN..Man that is so sad..Crazy how such a simple thing that's done in the ring countless times can take a life..God bless him and his family..I think it's official that Ron's old/fatasss needs to call it quits..

Here's the interesting dilemma that WWE faces:  Do they acknowledge Aguayo, Jr with a brief In Memory of before Raw or a piece on .com because it would be a show of respect for a fellow professional wrestler...

...or do they completely ignore it because they don't want to be associated with wrestlers dying in-ring?
He was never in the WWE tho...

He was never that good and his over use in TNA was solely because he was part owner. He was just as bad as HHH in terms of abuse of power. He was never that much of a draw.

Nah man, he was legit in the ring..But his ego and overall attitude kept him from being a true main eventer..I can't stand him, but I'll give him his due..

I've been reading that the spot that broke his spine happened a few moments earlier on a bump to the floor... And that the dropkick/619 were just the straw that broke camels back...

Very sad, and of no fault of Rey Jr...

You guys need to follow this link and watch this video..DC's hero Konnan had to do some extra damage to the poor guy..He just keeps pushing his head and body and shakin' the hell outta the poor man..

Everything that happened there was so routine.  Nothing stiff or over the top.  They could've done that spot a billion times and 999,999,999 times it would've ended regularly.

Watching those videos, I don't see the point where it happened. Nothing looked out of the ordinary until he was slumped on the ropes.

RIP

Reported. You think Rey meant to hurt him?

The bump to the floor and the dropkick immediately afterwards...

It's probably just like Misawa... All the years of bumps added up... And his body just couldn't take anymore...

Maaaaaan didn't know that what Manik's tweet was referring to. Saw that tweet before I had seen/heard anything else

I know your schtick is to be sarcastic, but uncalled for in this situation. No way is he at fault.

Step back big guy..I never said it was his fault..But he needs to retire and I'd like to think after a tragedy like this that it finally dawns on him that he needs to hang it up..He's a veteran with decades of experience and he of all people should have recognized that there was something wrong..At the very least maybe not continue to do moves on the ropes right next to the guys limp body or maybe just tell everyone to stop and call for the dr's..And yes I expect a person of his experience to know when something just ain't right..

You can go somewhere too..I would never think Rey would hurt any person on purpose..He's too nice of a guy to do that..But I do think a person with his countless time in the ring should of at the very least recognized when a fellow performer is legit hurt and stopped the match..And the ref too for that matter..
