Wrestling Thread Nov 23-29 | 11/27 Smackdown - Undertaker vs Jericho, Batista vs Kane

Watching ECW right now...they need to change the belt back to what it looked like when it first came back.

Actually the current design grew on me...

I kinda like it now.

News & Notes

What happened after this week's RAW.

After RAW went off the air, Randy Orton & Legacy came out and attacked John Cena. DX made the save and Legacy retreated to the back. Orton stayed out and ended up taking finishers from everyone. DX and Cena then celebrated.

Sid Vicious headed to TNA.

Word hit the WWE office today that Sid Vicious is heading to TNA Wrestling. There are other rumors surfacing as to who may be coming with him, but the only name that we can confirm is headed to the company is Sid Vicious.

Sid's son Gunnar, 16, is just getting started in the pro wrestling industry and recently tagged with Scott Hall.

While I haven't heard the reaction within the TNA locker room, I'm told Vince McMahon began laughing when he heard the news.

Wrestlemania 26 Rumors.

- There is a feeling in WWE that something special needs to be done with The Undertaker for WrestleMania 26. WWE knows that more and more fans are tired of the same old matches and want to deliver a match that fans have not seen before. The Dead Man's health continues to deteriorate and he's less mobile now than he's ever been, so his year as a Wrestlemania draw are certainly winding down. Right now, a match with John Cena is being strongly considered as the main event for WrestleMania.

- There is also talk of a Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels match at WrestleMania 26. The two have wrestled each other many times before, but not in several years and never on the grand stage of WrestleMania. While DX is still one of the top babyface acts in WWE, this one makes sense and WWE may have planted the seed for the match at Survivor Series with HBK superkicking the Game in the opening moments of their triple threat match with John Cena.

- At one point, there had been a plan for a CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio Hair vs. Mask match at WrestleMania 26, but this is unlikely to happen now considering Mysterio's injury problems.

I think they'll do something with HHH and HBK...I don't see Cena and Taker facing off vs. eachother.

Rey Mysterio weighing his options regarding knee surgery.

As previously reported, Rey Mysterio's knee is in bad shape and the former World Heavyweight champion will need surgery to repair the situation. The beatdown he suffered at the hands of Batista following their match at Survivor Series was done to set up his time away from the ring.

While there was talk that he'd undergo an extensive surgery to fully repair the ACL, Mysterio is now is said to be considering a less invasive procedure on his ACL that would allow him to return sooner than later.

The more invasive procedure would have kept him out of action for up to 9 months and he would have missed WrestleMania 26. While this other surgery he's considering will allow him to return at the Royal Rumble, he will still need major surgery down the road, likely after he retires.

Mysterio did appear at a scheduled book signing last night in Ridgewood, NJ. The signing drew around 500 fans, and Mysterio was said to not be selling the injury in any way.

WWE has "given up" on Dolph Ziggler getting gold.

For those keeping track, Dolph Ziggler has taken part in twenty-six Intercontinental title matches at various events (televised and non-televised) within the past few months, losing all but two. He won one match via count-out with another match being ruled a double count-out. Furthermore, he has come up short in retrieving the title on television on seven different occasions including Night of Champions, SummerSlam, Hell in the Cell and four separate episodes of Friday Night SmackDown!.

Ziggler was at one point scheduled to win the title from Rey Mysterio over the summer, but the high-flying Superstar vetoed dropping the title to him on more than one occasion. When push came to shove as a result of a 30-day suspension for violating the company's drug testing policy in early September, Mysterio agreed to drop the title to John Morrison.

Now it appears that the ship has sailed on Ziggler as WWE officials have reportedly "given up on him" nabbing the gold.

On a related noted, Ziggler was voted the "Most Deserving of a Title Shot" among his peers in the "Superstar Survey" taken for the latest issue of WWE Magazine.

For those unaware, Dolph Ziggler and ECW Diva Nikki Bella are dating again, although they actually have been together for a while. Click here to see recent pictures of the two together.

Lauren Mayhew released.

We can now confirm that Lauren Mayhew has been released. She was working with the company on a "short term deal", and they could not come to terms on a longer contract. The word is that she and WWE parted "on amicable terms", and the door is open for a return down the line. Her profile has been removed from WWE.com, and at tonight's ECW tapings, Tony Chimel did the ring announcing.

Mayhew was hired this past September to take over the ring announcing void Lilian Garcia left behind when she decided to part ways with the company after a decade-plus relationship. Shortly thereafter, Mayhew begun working as the ring announcer for its ECW brand.

Mayhew is an aspiring recording artist who has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the music industry, superstars such as Britney Spears, Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland to name a few. She even performed at the Super Bowl as frontwoman for the teen group PYT. Mayhew has also branched out into acting as she will be appearing in Frat Party, which is set for release next month on DVD. You can also catch Lauren in the upcoming MTV pilot series Private High Musical, scheduled for 2010.

WWE's stance on Twitter.

WWE performers were told last week they could continue using Twitter, but were strongly advised against using it too much - especially after midnight for obvious reasons. Are you listening Matt Hardy?

It's interesting to note that Chris Jericho sent out a tweet just after midnight one day last week wondering if he was going to get in trouble. As we noted earlier, he wrote: "Hey you ever wonder...wait am I gonna get in trouble?"

Regardless of his joke, tweets from WWE talent are down by more than half.

Smackdown tonight has:
*Cryme Tyme vs. Hart Dynasty
*Matt Hardy vs. C.M. Punk
*Batista vs. Kane - Winner meets Undertaker for the title
*John Morrison vs. Eric Escobar for the IC title
*Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho non-title

If Escobar goes over Morisson instead of Ziggler.... what a mistake WWE.

He's like a really bootleg Razor Ramon.

If the WWE just put on 2 hours of Jericho and Punk promos every week, I would be very happy.

Matt Hardy is such a jabroni.

PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!

(tho we all know Cena will go over on that one.)

Raw was great last week, that show should have been at the Garden over the descent raw there the week before.

I would seriously pay money to see Rock wrestle again....WIN/or LOSE to Cena he's still entertaining as heck.
