DX had that effect on me...I, like every other middle schooler, proudly chopped my crotch through the late 90s.
still, they mostly only had mid-card champs and instructed grown men to be ready, at all times, to suck it. let's all get ready to suck it. all of us. together. sucking it.
years later, two men pushing 40 ran around doing things so questionable that one of them literally had to leave the room sometimes.
then there was the time they put a bunch of male cheerleaders in a box. so cool.
also, they went on and on about Vince's pet rooster because that type of stuff is hilarious.
the DX lineage was finished once and for all when the former tag team champs and a one-time group applicant got ran out the stadium in about 5 minutes by three debuting rookies.
so...yeah.
I peeped that too...like they ran outside to the t-shirt man on the corner. shirts look like stand tees too.

Dominance of what though?..The whole point of wrestling is to become a champion and be the best in your division (Heavyweight, Tag Team, Cruiserweight etc,..)..Shield has 1 tag title run that wasn't bad but wasn't great..And they had Jeans with the US title that he, literally, never defended..So what really was the point of the Shield?..Yeah they main evented ppv's, but other than that they didn't really accomplish anything significant..
Vince tried to make them his version of NWO and it flat out wasn't even close..

Agreed, no reason Cedric, Mustafa, Nese, and Gallagher couldn't do stuff in the IC/US division. Tag team as well.

While I do agree about Ambrose never defending the US title, none of them were ready to be WWE champion. It's different with a group like Evolution where Triple H could be world champ. Look what happened when Orton won the WHC. He wasn't ready and his face run failed. Rollins, Reigns, and Ambrose were all not ready to be world champ.

yeah I think you have to take into account that these were rookies who took the fed by storm, not established legends and champions or high profile free agents.

That had to be one of the biggest face run fails ever. Cena was 100% right during that promo when he told Orton "congrats, you're finally in the spot you were supposed to be in 10 years ago"

Y'all are letting your dissatisfaction with Shield getting back together fog your memories. Dudes were also like 26-27 years old when they debuted.

Seeing as I was posting during their run I recall most of us agreeing during their push it was appropriate for where they were. They were in the process of establishing themselves as a unit, beating up Taker, Cena, Orton, Ryback, etc... If they had won all the main belts the complaint would have been too much too soon, you can’t have it both ways. They all had titles respective to where they were at that time on the card, booking determines when titles are defended so you can’t blame the talent... Sometimes we overvalue a title reign and sometimes we underrate them. I’m not gonna feel like Jinder is an all time great cause he won the belt and Scott Hall never did. We have personal preferences...They started as mercenaries, basically super goons for hire. They evolved into “The Hounds of Justice”(...hence the “Big Dog” moniker for Reigns...
) Completely washed the Larry Holmes version of Evolution and then disbanded when no one really expected it. They used the group to basically let people know these three will be long term main event tier talents with multiple title Reigns as their careers progress. I guess being in all of the main events, selling a bunch of merch, and headlining PPVs is no longer seen as being a success as a wrestler...Attachments
