I've tried these Y-3 Approaches as well. They are snug and I'd recommend going at least TTS. The plastic is very stretchy and I've worn other shoes like this. It will break in over time and loosen up but also crease. The whole shoe is primeknit and the plastic part just covers the toe-midfoot part, so technically one could cut off the plastic however, the size tag is just underneath the plastic near the midfoot so that would be exposed.
It takes effort to slide your foot in. I would not recommend wearing these on hot days because your feet will probably be warm. However, overall fit and support is good. Almost feel like you could play some light basketball in these.

underneath is actually mostly mesh, the primeknit ends about an inch or so from the opening of that pleather upper, below that is mesh plus lining

Super weird that they chose the og UB outsole for these, instead of the continental sole. I wonder what drove that decision. Certainly wasn't performance based.
I guess it's possible they were just trying to get rid of leftover og outsoles so they slapped them on these, but I wouldn't expect that from a "premium" brand like Y3.
I think the most likely situation has to do with adidas' contract w/ Continental and maybe that specific outsole being exclusively licensed for Ultra Boosts, might've been too much of a headache to figure that stuff out in time. It's also totally possible the approaches were designed before the new outsole was introduced so they just left the og outsoles on rather than deal w/ the licensing headache w/ continental.

It's definietly weird that Y3 didn't go all out, or like you said were probably designed way before they introduced the new soles.
I'd love to see these with a conti sole along with a different upper and lower cut sock.

looks like farfetch is starting to get dry; paid 240ish there; used the discount that was floating on NT and complained about some off stitching to get an additional 10%; those with the shoe you guys use mid cut socks? bc the leather heel tab is very unforgiving to your heals

pardon me but I heard Y-3s are fits big, from the picture it seems that the shoe is still too large for you.. maybe you should down size a half more..They do look good, it's the small details that most probably won't notice that somewhat bugs me.
Pretty comfortable, similar to UBs. I think I might actually like this more actually because I have a high instep and the UBs cage hurts the top of my foot after a few hours of wear.
While the Y3 Approach isn't perfect, it's hard to put into words but the part I boxed out below is the one I am talking about, if you have a high-instep, that could be bothersome as it pushes down but once I stretched it a bit with some force, it became more manageable, that wasn't possible possible with the UBs upper alogn with the cage because the primeknit actually is knitted tighter in that area and there isn't much give (surprisngly) and if you try to stretch it, it just goes back to it's original shape.
I know it seems contradictory when I initially said a primeknit upper is better but that is with a few tweaks where they have to make it more pliable but not too pliable that the shape becomes saggy. I am not sure if I am making nay sense at all
As for the ankle socks, it's comfortable, it isn't as constricting as Nikes iterations, it's actually more like an ankle turtle neck or ankle cuff because it's pretty soft and real pliable. I guess that is one thing that could be worrisome, it might droop after a while but I don't think it's going to be an issue, shoe is probably going to be beat to a point of no return by the time that happens especially with the old nubby rubber sole.
also, maybe the leather upper is chosen because they're more weather proof than primeknits..
nevertheless that's a nice pair, definitely a great cop !

Checked grailed, last i saw tons of big sizes on these. The smaller sizes are the ones usually harder to find these days.

Thanks! Just checked it out and was able to find an 11.5 which is my true size. I heard these fit a half size bigger? Could I get away with going with my true size on these?
Dude is asking $320 shipped for a 8.5/10 pair.

I would talk him down a bit. I paid $290 i believe for my 9/10 pair but that was back in august. You can go full or half size down it depends. I did half size since i have a wide/flat foot so it leaves me with a bit of of toe room but i just wear thicker socks. When i tried a full size down they were way too tight on the sides. Hope this helps.

Just finished seeing the Y3 UBs at barneys. Unfortunately they were closing so I didn't get a chance to try them on. The materials feel amazing. I underestimated the leather upper.. I would still probably wait for a discount though.
