Going to Italy in May for 2 weeks with my girl

Amalfi Coast > Florence/Tuscany > Cinque Terre > Rome

Anyone have any suggestions or reviews from those places?

I can only speak for Rome. It's sort of like a New York where it can be spread out and not totally all within walking distance and where there are spots for eating, spots where there is nothing at all and other spots where there is a lot of sites. As far as the Roman ruins, they are everywhere but all within waling or train stations away. All sites like the Colosseum and what not do have tickets for entry fees but general things like fountains and what obviously require nothing. People have told me pickpocket are everywhere but I went during off peak season and had no issues. Just don't be a dumb tourist and have cash hanging out in your pockets.

My suggestion....get one of the local maps or even download an offline map of Rome in Google Maps. The local maps have all the trains and sites listed and just use your smart phone as a compass and reference to where you are. Most speak english but there are still a lot of people that just speak Italian. If you have data, use Google translate and that works surprisingly well. Also there are a gang load of people trying to sell you selfie sticks and it gets really annoying after a while.

Im not a huge fan of Rome. Its cool, just be mindful of your surroundings & pick pockets. Public transportation is easy enough to get around, just make sure you pay when using the bus because it can & will most likely get stopped by police. Overall the city is dope tho. Really cool to see these giant monuments & statues pop up from what seems out of nowhere. I think its just the Italian attitude/personality I didn't mesh well with, and it does kinda feel like NYC in a sense. You should be able to use Google maps & Yelp to get around.

For Florence/Rome, make sure to book tickets in advance for the tourist sites like Vatican, Colosseum, and Accademia Gallery. It'll save you a bunch of time!

I went to Cancun 2 months ago. And I did Cancun 4 years ago for the proper Spring Break.

If you're looking to party then of course, it's going to be wild. Good looking women everywhere, that's where all the college sororities go to party. Beautiful beaches, perfect weather, and cheap entertainment.

Make sure you hit up Isla Mujeres, and Playa del Carmen. Catch a party boat tour for $40 which includes unlimited drinks. This will get you trashed, and if there's girls on the tour you'll be good. At night check out the strip, Coco Bongo is the best show. But that whole strip is live, I like Mandala.
^^ I booked my trip 4 months before the US announced they would allow direct flights to Cuba. So I flew to Cancun, spent a few days there, then flew to Havana (45 mins) from cancun. I then flew back to the Cancun for a few more days, then back home. Since I booked from Mexico, I had to pay the $20 Visa to enter Cuba. But they didn't question me when I got back home. If they did, i would've just said "support of the cuban people". That's the "look the other way" loophole, everyone is using these days. Cuba was amazing. I keep hearing about people having bad food experiences, I must have gotten lucky. Because every plate I had was good.

just touched down at lax from cancun, was a family vacay.

was there for 6 nights and everyday had 20 mph winds nonstop couldnt even get in the beach.

but regardless we had a great time, did tulum, xcaret and xplore.

To the Cancun folks here, yall check out Chichen Itza? Tours sound like a **** show. I wanna rent a car out and drive there on my own, but apparently the car companies out lure you in with $5/day rentals only to gouge you for insurance. Advice?

Florence is alright the crowds you're gonna get are just overwhelming, that deemed some of my experience there. But the Uffizi, the David Museum and the other one that I don't recall quite right, are all  indeed amazing, try to hit some of the small churches outside the center of the city it'll give you a true sense of how italians behave and live 

Cinque Terre was one of those places that I was dying to be, but I went there in winter so no chance in doing anything 

Personally Rome , well is Rome, as someone else said is like NYC , you can have anything and nothing at all and it will be spectacular either way, remember that you're not there for work, so enjoy don't let the stress of the big city gets you and book everything in advance, same advise go to the skirts of the city to taste some real Italy and some amazing Pizza; Little Churches are magical and I consider myself a non religious person but they are great indeed

If you were to do soemthing else I will tell you that the city I love the most in Italy is Verona, magic is not the word to describe it is far far away from words and adjectives one of my favorite places in the world and I lived in Paris and Ny for quite some time

Anyone here follow like trending countries to go to? Like Iceland seems to be pretty common now whereas years back, it was never a spot you'd find people going to. But I've been hearing a buzz about Croatia lately. Maybe it's coincidence more so than it being trending, but it seems like rad place to visit.


Also would like to check out Swiss alps as well where the Matterhorn is. Seems like a rad place to take photos.
 

First I haven't been in Croatia, when my friends where there I was around Lisboa and Porto so I didn't had a chance to go with them 

However with what they told me and the pics they gave me I can tell you 

Croatia is one of the most amazing places you could dream off. Everything on the country looks like taken out of FMA, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split , Zadar, it's just unbelievable, they're not fully into the Euro Zone so the currency issue, could bug you a little, but otherwise the country itself is pretty cheap and easy to go around, most of Croatians speak english, but they do have a lot of Romanian and I'm guessing now a lot of Immigrants that surely don't speak a bit and could seem a little harsh towards tourists, but it's just a thing of being smart 

If you're planning a second trip

Well my personal choice would be Budapest (Even though the Immigrant situation is really delicate, it was already two years ago when I was there so who knows what you could encounter)  Bratislava and Athens 

As for Switzerland, I would take some serious time to get there and more than time MONEY MONEY MONEY , man Switzerland was expensive , everything in it is expensive I spent there like a month or so, don't remember what budget I had, but I was staying at some friend's place and even like that the last week I was just feeding mysef out of apples and apples haha 

Beautiful place if you have some swiss friends that'll make it more interesting and it's really worth it , Switzerland is peace, wealth and nature, you need to love it there

haha can't believe this is the **** that show you for BUDAPEST; however this is quite the thing, those are the baths , don't remeber the exact name but it's huge near the main train station, never seen a party go down there, it must be amazing and cheap. But Budapest is much more than that , the city is called Budapest , because it's crossed by a river and one side of the City is called Buda and the other Pest ,  I would love to explain you why this is so important, but i think that wikipedia would do it better than me. Amazing place Top 5 in europe for me

South of europe has alot to offer and is relatively cheap compared to other europoean countries.

Something like portugal, spain, italy or greece are all good choices imo. TON of sight seeing and great cities to explore.
