http://www.ratebeer.com/BeerStyles.asp http://beeradvocate.com/beer/style Try these two websites, personally there are a few styles that are generally more well-known than others, maybe start with something you've had that you've liked and search for other beers of the same style first.

Okay, i'd be willing to trade the parabola for a goose island bcbs (any kind). I think it's going to come out in about a month.

With regards to trading, I live in the bay area, so if anybody wants anything fairly local, let me know. I have cantillion, firestone parabola, lost abbey, the bruery, russian river, and a few others if anybody wants to trade (doesn't have to be whales, could just be local goodies).

Just finished drinking sculpin on draft, a little underwhelmed by it honestly, but for $6 you can't go wrong.

Personally, though I've never had heady topper, I would argue that there is nothing better than the elder fresh.

Haven't posted in here in a while. I'll just say that Stone's Imperial Russian Stout is one of the best beers i've ever had, period. It's an absolute steal at $6.99.Sierra Nevada Kellerweis is extremely underrated, it always surprises me at how many people have not tried such a superb...

Some beers I've had or bought recently Sierra Nevada Bigfoot - barrel-aged barley-wine style, VERY hoppy, notes of pine and grass. A really good beer once you get used to it (might be too strong for some). Highly recommended Hitachino celebration and XH ales- really disappointed with this one...

Thanks for the recommendations, I've seen some of these before in the past few months, I'll probably see some again eventually. This looks pretty good, seems like it would be similar to Young's double chocolate stout. Very nice. Were there any notable differences between it and other Trappist...

^ Never knew that existed Stillen729, seems interesting. Honestly haven't had too much from Dogfish Head other than their 90 min ipa and peach beer. There's such a big selection from Dogfish Head, do you have any recommendations as far as what their best bottles are? Made some pickups recently...

Finally got a chance to try Russian River's Pliny the Younger (a triple IPA) at their brewery a few days ago. Had to wait a few hours to get inside the brewery before I got to have a few glasses of it. Someone said in this thread that Elder = Younger, and after having the latter I would have to...

Since December I've had a fair amount of trappist beers, which almost always have a high abv% (usually somewhere around 10). The St. Bernardus had a very wine-like taste, though it was pretty good I preferred the Christmas ale to it. The Trappistes Rochefort was smooth, dark, and malty...

Tried the Trader Joe's 2012 Vintage last week, thought that the 2011 was a little bit better (had a better assortment of flavors). Also tried the Stone Brewing 2011 (on tap) and 2012 (bomber) a few days ago. The 2011 tasted like a light dark ale, whereas the 2012 had a spicy (chili peppers)...
