it would have been great for the lakers to get cp3 and howard but realistically you knew the hatin +%* other teams and hatin +%* david stern wouldnt let that happen. hes only gonna allow bron bron to have a big 3 cuz thats his sweetheart.
you guys who are counting the lakers out of the title picture shouldnt. the importance to get paul and dwight was for the future. our present team with a few tweaks can still make it out of the west.

we just need anybody not named fisher as our point guard

The one thing about keeping Gordon in the trade is that with DJ's new salary and Blake's upcoming max deal, you're looking at 3 max contracts and your center making $11M. Putting you damn near into the tax even if you fill the rest of the roster with draft picks and vet min salaries.

Great point. Never considered this.

Gordon AND a Minny pick (guaranteed top 5).....geez.

would suck if he bolts....Melo is waiting.

I've made it no secret that I don't get into the details of contracts and salary cap and all that redtape stuff too much, so someone tell me why I'm an idiot for thinking the following: I'll be a little surprised if Chris Paul is an active Clipper when the season ends, a little more surprised if he's still a Clipper when NEXT season begins, and completely floored if he remains a Clipper for the entire 2-year contract.

I'm glad this is over with.

Hopefully CP3 won't have to go through this trade drama again next off-season.

Expect Bledsoe and/or Williams to be moved soon.

The Hornets will obviously do everything to keep him. Hell, he's the face of the franchise now. That's appealing.

well atleast he has the face of the houston rockets mascot...

It'd suck if he leaves, but what if Blake/Gordon led LAC never make a significant jump and Blake then wants out in a few years?

If CP3 stays (which w/ playing with Blake and NY NOT being an option, is likely), you've ensured that Blake goes nowhere for a very long time.

Incorrect.
He is. Deron Williams > CP3 and its been that way for years now

I'll take cp3 out of the two,he is more the traditional type pg that makes a team better.deron is just a better scorer

Nope CP3 always played with garbage and still made the playoffs at times. Deron always had good players around him.

Chris Paul has averaged more PPG in his career than Williams....but Williams is the better scorer.  Right.

And it's no knock on Williams because he runs a team DAMN well...u just got your facts wrong.

CP3, Biracial Facial & Deandre is nice

Sucks that the Clippers included Gordon in the trade. If he stayed the Clippers could've done some damage in the West.

EDIT: I lied.

The Clippers cap room (after the Butler signing) was around $3.1M. With the deal, they are able to shed an extra $2.4M with the Chris Paul deal. They bid $2M for Billups (source: ESPN) so that basically cancels that extra space from the CP3 deal (gives them $3.5M in cap room altogether). Then they resigned Jordan and he's getting around a $9M salary increase. Should they decide to amnesty Mo Williams, they'll have about $3M in cap space.

So you"re saying deron runs a team better than Paul? Like I said I'd take cp3 over him any day.

EG to Pacers sometime in the next year then hopefully. He loves Indy and wants to come back.

Where'd I say that?  Please show me.

I take Deron. I would argue that hes a better scorer (PPG doesnt tell the whole story, Deron had to share shots with more people) less, injury prone and puts up similar assist numbers.

Scott Howard-Cooper: Gordon was on a bus with Clips season-ticket holders, going to fan stops, when he got the news. "Awkward," one says. Another: "Looked sad." 1 minute ago
