Nope. Doubt he will ever really become a starter anytime soon barring injury.

In a surprise move, the Sacramento Kings raised the screen yesterday and allowed media more than two hours of on-court basketball viewing.  The results were mixed, but who cares?  Basketball is back and the Kings had 15-healthy players, none of whom looked like they had gained any major weight during an extended off-season.

Injury Report
  • None to report.
Coaches Notes and Quotes
  • Coach Paul Westphal on the conditioning of his players:  “Better than I feared, but still with a long way to go.  I would say the three rookies are in very good shape.  I think that J.J. Hickson looked like he was in top shape.  Everything is subject to wind, because the NBA wind is different than being in shape, but he’s (Hickson) really ready to go with a couple of days.  I thought that Tyreke and DeMarcus did a pretty good job of keeping their weight down and getting in shape.  Their timing, especially Tyreke’s timing is off, but he looked like he’s in decent shape.  Marcus Thornton is in pretty good shape.  In general, it’s much better than I feared.â€

Going to try and watch the Kings alot this season, Hopefully my guy Lil' Zeke does well

I hope he makes the most of that time

As a player in general, I want the guy. Just not sure how he would fit when we already have so many guys at his position fighting for minutes. This signing would make sense though if we are just trying to make the minimum salary cap.

The guy is a solid role player at the minimum. We don't need this guy here to rot on the bench.

Westphal and Jimmer have a coaching moment

Last night, camp began with a Q&A with Geoff Petrie, followed by two hours of viewing time during the team’s scrimmage.  We have seen more basketball action in the first two days of camp this season than all 20-plus days of last season combined.  I like the policy change.

Injury Report
  • No injuries to report.  There were some ice bags being handed out, but no injuries to report.
Coaches Notes and Quotes
  • Coach Paul Westphal on the three-guard set the team ran Sunday in practice (Jimmer Fredette, Tyreke Evans, Marcus Thornton):  “It really worked well.  At one point, they ran off 12 or 15 points in a row.  If they can pick up some steals…we were picking up full court, we’re going to do a lot more of that this year, picking up full court, creating some turnovers and early shots.  They got out and they were explosive so that’s a combination that can be real effective.â€
