He's good but not world record fee good. The English tax + Leicester not wanting to sell their best player/not needing cash is why he's gonna cost an ignorant amount.

He's probably better in the air than any of the defenders in the squad right now/over the last few years on top of being a much better CB defensively so I def think he'd be a good addition to the squad but he's always gonna be judged, fairly or unfairly depending on your POV, based on his fee if he goes for the rumored amounts like Pogba was.

I'm still surprised that no one in the league is seemingly in for Toby with his deal winding down and his 25m clause which is peanuts in this market...

United once again shoot themselves in the foot. Before the summer they go out and declare they will focus most of their recruitment on talented young English players and in doing so raised the market on English talent. No wonder heggsyfc want a record fee for maguire or Newcastle asking for 50 for a kid with 8 games to his name. The board once again only have themselves to blame for this issue.

We won today but the there were some huge red flags, especially in the middle of the park. Matic was a non-factor and our cb’s kept getting skinned alive. If maguire can fix that? Cool.. but we also should be looking at neves.. break our record for him.. he’s that good, would fix our midfield for YEARS and has that ever crucial “epl experience”. I’m ok with this even if it means no Bruno and we rely on our current options because neves also offers so much going forward.

Also, United cannot place a bid because if they do and Sporting happen to reject it, Bruno gets an automatic 5 million Euro. Bruno has this ridiculous/genius clause in his contract.

So during these United and Sporting backdoor negotiations that have been taking place for a month plus - Sporting is telling United “YOU HAVE TO GIVE US A BID WE ACCEPT”.

But clearly United haven’t done so, which is absolutely idiotic. There isn’t a world where Harry Mcguire is worth 30 million more than Bruno.

If Mcguire isn’t average he’s still far from world class. You have MULTIPLE better CB’s in the market for half the price.

It’s Ole’s plan to buy British players. He’s the manager and he has final say on who we target to sign. Only thing we’ve heard from Woodward in regard to transfers is ‘we can do things in the transfer market no one can’ and the briefing the media got last summer basically saying that he preferred if Jose’s targets were younger.

There is a world where Maguire is worth 30 million more than Bruno, this one. If Bruno played for Leicester instead of Sporting they’d be going for around the same figure. Y’all have got to stop using transfer fees as a way to rank players. They don’t even play in the same position.

He doesn’t need to be world class. Name me the MULTIPLE “better” CBs for half the price. Please make sure that they fit the way Ole wants us to play as well as cover some of the missing qualities our current CBs lack.
