rolaholic rolaholic you hearing anything in canada about what's going on with phonzie? he hasn't been playing much so far this season and flick keeps mentioning that he's not mentally or physically ready to play regular minutes this season. getting a bit worried there's something going on with him. even in the matches he played so far this year he hasn't looked like himself at all

Nah haven't really heard anything out of the norm with him but yea it's surprising that he hasn't been playing as much lately after it looked like he nailed down his spot.

From Flicks comments it sounds like he's trying to rotate him a bit more early season to avoid burning him out. Would make sense with all the footy he ended up playing down the stretch during the business end of last season.

Might be overly cautious on his part but I don't see a big downside to resting him a bit unless you guys start losing games or if Lucas is straight ***

yeah true he said he's trying to keep him from burning out but damn we're playing atleti in CL and he's still resting him. alaba is the one who's straight *** lucas has been incredible this year so far. he needs to be starting at CB and davies at LB in our most important games like atleti. y'all are more than welcome to buy alaba in the winter window

Would imagine he'd get the start this week if he's healthy but we'll see. Haven't seen your guys matches much so far but good to hear Lucas is in form.

Being able to rest one CL winning LB while bringing a WC winning one in for him is wild  :smh:, will never stop being jealous over that depth.

The Alaba situation was looking like it was heading south in the summer so not surprised it's crept into the season. Not sure if his play's being affected by his discontent or if he's just falling off in general production wise, or a mixture of both

yeah man happy for lucas. the pressure of being the club's most expensive signing by almost double has to be heavy on his shoulders. he's handlded it very well and finally healthy now. our best defender by miles.

with alaba I think he's definitely distracted by the contract talks, but some of our fans started doing some data digging and his form has constantly been dropping since the 2013-14 season. He seemed to get overlooked for criticism by most because he was a youth product and had no competition for his place. Now that Davies and Lucas are here it shows he's not a world class defender. He's 2nd best at LB and CB to davies/lucas.

It's a really weird spot to be in. Can't really pay a backup player starter money, and especially not 20+ mill a year. The only clubs that can affford his wages are PSG, city and chelsea but he said he only wants germany or spain. Will be interesting to see what happens. Went from club legend to most hated right now because of this whole saga :smh:

should be a great game. i think there will be a large disparity between home and away teams in europe this year. the travelling is exhausting. good luck to the squads playing on thursdays

He still looked decent for a bit when he made the switch to CB initially but yea it's been trending down lately and with the competition at LB right now, Davies and the club record signing, it's tough to justify giving him burn there when everyone's healthy even though that's probably still his best position.

Can't see him sticking around next year with the way the contract negotiations fell through and it might be tough getting a buyer in January with the wages he's looking for and a few months left on his deal by then.

The rumors of the pre-contract with Juve would seem like the likeliest end to things if true and if things stay the same further down the season.
