Wynalda is quite possibly one of the worst color commentator/analyst in any sport. Any of us here in the thread could do what he does because all he offers are hot takes. When he criticizes anything, he offers no solutions as to what should've been done to demonstrate he knows what he's talking about.

On the topic of Benz & RM

The problem hasn't been him specifically, it's that CR7's style this season is redundant to Benz's game. 2 Benz's are an awful tandem. They're both usually just planted in the middle, and get into the box with weak movement. The movement and activity of the two have been horrendous. They also have a lack of acceleration & burst that helps when trying to be a penalty box predator.

CR7 has been especially bad. It makes you wonder if he's conserving himself for a late CL burst, or if the athletic decline is real. It's just insanely perplexing because he finished last season on fire and began this one sonning Pique and looking quick as ever.

But this is also where management of the coach and front office comes into play. You can't do anything about letting impactful players walk, but you have all these talented youngsters now. They should be a source of energy and life in the team, on and off the pitch. But instead they're being coddled, made to feel like they aren't ready, and pushed to the end of the bench. Meanwhile Lucas Vasquez gets consistent burn.
