4+ years on, has his move to Paris been a success or nah?

He's put up numbers but the fact that he left to potentially contend for a Ballon D'or and win the CL out of Messi's shadow and he hasn't yet and has kind of had to share the spotlight with Mbappe then now Messi again makes it hard for me to call it a success individually for him.

For PSG sure but he's turning 30 soon and still isn't any closer to reaching those top of the mountain achievements he seemed destined for years ago,

Not worth it for his legacy, not worth it for Paris either. I honestly don't think Neymar went to PSG try and win without Messi and pave his own path.. IMO he went there to rake in the dough and have to put in less effort. It was a win for Neymar's personal life, he got to play in a joke league and party while cashing big checks and living in a vibrant city.

For PSG it was also a fail. They expected to win the CL and keep failing. They could have performed similarly in Ligue 1 with or without Neymar, I mean they still lost it with Neymar and Mbappe

Idk how it happened but Neymar takes on too much physicality for no reason. He's taken a few years off his career holding on to the ball in favor of fouls.
although you are correct, can’t be mad at Neymar for expressing himself on the pitch. We don’t have enough of that in todays game imo. We shouldn’t be discouraging that.
That’s one of the reasons he has to embellish fouls cause the refs should be protecting him and they aren’t.

People just don’t like him so they try to hurt him and refs don’t like him so he’s not protected imo

Mans going out sad

Yea def feels like defenders get away with murder sometimes just because it's against Neymar

He was stunting so hard on their heads his first year or 2 that it's like everyone in the league made it a pledge not to be the one going viral for getting embarrassed by him on the pitch.

They get away with trying to maim him more often than not, probably took notes from how CONMEBOL players handle him

That definitely adds up over time injury wise though

Still don't understand what would be so hard about acknowledging Lewa as the definite winner for last year while honoring Messi this year

Probably don't wanna admit that they goofed royally by cancelling it when the season still went on afterwards

the ballon d'or is a calendar year award. from jan-nov 2021 there's no way lewa wasn't the most consistent and best player in the world again just like 2020. winning a copa america that seems to happen damn near every year at this point doesn't mean anything. the ballon d'or has essentially just become a popularity contest. the FIFA mens player of the year award is the more legitimate one because the voters are all players and coaches, not journalists. it is what it is though at this point 🤷‍♂️

They really made up a whole *** new award instead of just making amends
So what’s the point of the golden boot ?
