This clip personifies the issue with fans and NBA media. On one hand, they essentially tell players that anything you do other than win a championship is pointless but when players sacrifice money, minutes, touches ,etc to play on championship teams the narrative becomes "they're cowards" who "don't want to compete".
Aren't fans supposed to love players taking less money and sacrificing for championships? Now this behavior is cowardly? Fans and media crucify players for not winning titles. They minimize all non-championship accomplishments but chastise them for "stacking the deck" in order to win. Can't have it both ways.

okc would have survived the harden trade, if not for injuries and dumb coaching
but when things were getting structured smartly again by presti, so no more Scotty or Perkins and making the smart ibaka trade.. durant decided to leave.. we can look back and see how the pieces could have fit around durant, had he stayed but he didn’t
like with giannis and we’re seeing this season with the 6ers or we saw with bron.. the focus should have been getting as many shooters on the floor as possible to create space for Russ and durant, instead of having 2 non offensive threats playing the heavy mins they did (thabo and Perkins)

I think things changed for the media in the summer of 2010. I cannot confirm or deny this but from what I gather it seems like back in the day there was less player movement during free agency, collusion, superstar trade demands and other modern methods that generally lead to the creation of super teams. Because of that, in the past you could solely base the conversation about a player/team on rings.
Now that players are “stacking the deck”, the conversation has shifted to “Wait a minute, we can’t just look at just the end anymore, we need to assess the means too.” That’s why the first GSW chip and even the following 73-9 season will always stick out to me because of how that team came together. Same even with the ‘19 Raptors although they had the benefit of a Top 3 player being out due to injury.
The trend of players/teams stacking the deck seems as if it’s here to stay and like any major shift, it’s just taking time for everyone to adjust to it because it’s unprecedented.

this is not the first time that this happened. the Spanish Flu vaccine for example pretty much was rolled out quickly due to the number of fatalities. while it was an experimental drug and wasn't tested long enough, it did however was effective. lots of people were also doubtful about it due to the lack of further studies but due to the growing cases of influenza, some people started taking the shot and somehow influenced others as well. there will always be side effects of the vaccine and that is one of the risks. on the otherhand, so does the virus itself. so it's a matter of choosing whether to get the vaccine and it's side effects versus getting the full-blown virus and it's possible effects. it's not like you wouldn't get either. it's bound to happen unless you get yourself inside a bubble for the rest of your life. some members of our extended families got the virus so there is a significant percentage that one could get infected.

What makes you say this? Jim and KD have think played 9 games together (7-2) and KD is 28/7/5/2 blks on 51/40/85 and Jim is 23/8/13/2 steps on 47/39/88. If there numbers were similar in the Finals and KD is clamping up the best player on the other team, he’d get FMVP. This is also too difficult to call without knowing who they’ll be playing.

You're right that this isn't the first time. A more recent example would be dengvaxia in the Philippines a few years ago. That one had similar issues with pathogenic priming and antibody dependent enhancement as the coronavirus vaccines that scientists have been trying and failing to produce for decades

Those numbers were when harden first got on the team. He's in rhythm now.
But even beyond that, say those we take that sample size and say those are the numbers they have together through 82 games...then James is the much better player. 1 more rebound while being 7" shorter... And then the 8 more assists...5 less points, but responsible for putting 16-24 more points on the board through facilitating.
He's as good of a scorer as kd, albeit not quite as accurate, and infinitely a better playmaker. Plus he'll have higher usage so more opportunities to flourish. And tbh, he'll have the clear cut advantage over the player in his position on the opposition nightly. He's def getting mvp if they win.
In the event the Lakers do make it do the finals, Bron will try his upmost to not be embarrassed by kd again. Which means hardest defense he's played in a decade. And they'll also put AD on him. KD can't clamp Bron. Nobody on the opposing side will be able to stop harden though. It's his trophy to lose imo.
