The celtics traded away the remaining core pieces of a championship team and were back in championship contention a mere 4 years later. Even with all the missed opportunities, their best players haven't even hit their primes yet and barring major injuries got at least 10 years ahead of them in their careers. Why are we even discussing this?

Missing their window feels a little aggressive - but the Celtics definitely missed an opportunity or five over the last few years.

Hard to say your window is slammed shut with two all-star level guys under 25 locked into deals and a decent handful of young, solid rotational pieces in hand.

Roster needs some shuffling - and I'm not convinced Danny is the guy to make it all work.

Giannis, Jrue and Middleton are locked up as well
Philly's core is locked up until 2024 at least and have more roster flexibility
Nets are going to be a factor at least for a few more seasons
And Riles is always cooking up something in Miami.

Before you know it while those under 25 young studs are going to be nearing the ends of those deals and going to be looking to exit after seeing success to a degree so early in their careers.

The jig is up on Ainge. I predicted this before the season started that they'd regress and been banging the drum all season. Covid and injuries are real but are going to be used to mask what's really at play in the bigger picture. Their place in the East hierarchy is tenuous at best.

Because a basketball team lives rent free in the heads of some people, as sad as that is

HUGE matchup between the T'Wolves and Pistons tonight.

Houston secured their bag. Adam silver will handle the rest. Cade soon

48% still a big chance of ending up with nothing though.

Morey/harden/Tillman/Cp3 :smh:

Wizards are down bad. Baze made Beal look like a fool last night with the best game of his life. Westbrook stat padding as always. No one cares about triple-doubles. Win a ring first bum.

Should change the thread title to Triple-Double stat padding Queen.

A bum? Damn Stark.

I wish nothing but failure on the Celtics as an organization and Boston as a sports city.

Because the nba moves fast and there are always unforeseen circumstances and injuries. A decade ago OKC had 3 young players as well with more talent than this entire Celtics roster. They came away with nothing. Harden trade, Russ injury, KD injury, GSW emerged as juggernauts etc... The same thing COULD happen to Boston who don’t even have players as talented as a KD or Russ. The age means nothing when Danny had chances to improve the team and he didn’t.

This also works the other way though which could favor a team built around 2 young guys. The top teams of today might not be the same 2 years from now. The Warriors for example were dismantling the entire league a few years ago and fast forward to now and there's a chance that they could miss the playoffs 2 years straight due to injuries and attrition. Things can change quickly.
