The celtics traded away the remaining core pieces of a championship team and were back in championship contention a mere 4 years later. Even with all the missed opportunities, their best players haven't even hit their primes yet and barring major injuries got at least 10 years ahead of them in their careers. Why are we even discussing this?
There’s a scenario where Harden opts in & stays with Brooklyn until his contract is up, Milwaukee & Philly keep their cores intact, & the C’s lose Jaylen Brown to unrestricted free agency after coming up short over the next 3 years.

I understand both sides here.

this man really out here the next morning on first take
just saw the post of him on yahoo sports as well

Because the nba moves fast and there are always unforeseen circumstances and injuries. A decade ago OKC had 3 young players as well with more talent than this entire Celtics roster. They came away with nothing. Harden trade, Russ injury, KD injury, GSW emerged as juggernauts etc... The same thing COULD happen to Boston who don’t even have players as talented as a KD or Russ. The age means nothing when Danny had chances to improve the team and he didn’t.
It COULD, but it's ridiculous to proclaim that they've undoubtedly missed their championship window. Saying they may not win a chip isn't going out on a limb, that's one of the safest predictions you can make in the NBA. There's 30 teams and only one ring, it's really hard to win one. But to say they've already failed and have no chance? Cmon.

If you said in 2012 after losing in the finals that the Thunder missed their chance it would've been ridiculous. Even the Harden trade as bad as it was, right after making it to the finals, still left the Thunder as one of the better teams in the league and a perennial contender for the foreseeable future, which they were. If you said in 2014 after losing Westbrook to injuries that they missed their chance it would've been ridiculous. And if you said in 2015 after losing KD to injuries and missing the playoffs that they missed their chance it would've been ridiculous. No one could've predicted what would happen in 2016.

And you can't simultaneously claim that your prediction is accurate because there are always unforeseen circumstances and injuries but everyone else's predictions are inaccurate because there are always unforeseen circumstances and injuries. That's not how it works.

The problem is they had all them assets and did little to nothing. They sold people on the idea that Ainge was building this potential dynasty and they're regressing. They moving backwards, a bunch of teams in the east got a better present and future than the Celtics.

Little to nothing? They traded everyone away and a year later were back in the playoffs and have built 2-3 championship level teams since then. Yes they woefully underachieved but that's not an indicator of future success. The Lakers did little to nothing for a decade then hit on Lebron, missed the playoffs anyways and won a cereal box ring a year later.

Not really clear what the Celtics-window-has-closed crowd thinks they should do. Trade Tatum and Brown? For who and what? Far from assured they’ll be better off than they are now if they did that. Could be way worse.

Having a window that allegedly closed is better than being in a basement with no window at all.

Frontcourt version of Dame and CJ?

yikes.

The **** is championship level? These dude ain't make no finals. Nobody has looked at the Celtics the last few years and said they can win the chip. You Knicks fan so I don't why you even saying anything about championship anything.

The Lakers actually used their pieces to get the best big man in the game and win a chip. That's doing something.

Foresight like wanting the Lakers to trade LeBron after the 2019 season?

That's an opinion not a prediction. A prediction would be me saying the Lakers were going to win the chip after getting AD and the Clips would fall flat on their faces after all the hype. Both of which happened. Try and keep up.

Send Tatum to the Knicks

AD wanted to go to the Lakers though.

There's some people that have foresight and there's some people that are late to the party after the fact.

Very true

I could easily pull a ton of receipts showing predictions you were way off on over the years. But you seem to really need to be big upping yourself in here right now for whatever reason, so I’m going to let you cook.
