You would think it would be hard to avoid being a close contact of someone when playing basketball with them. But, it will depend on when he tested positive and who he was near in the period before that - may have been lucky or have had good team protocols to avoid that situation.

I wondered if he was just a contact - but I’ve seen it reported a few places that he was the positive test. The NBA just released that one player tested positive.
