Interesting you mentioned Charles Barkley, because he once said that he would “get arrested for murder” if you didn’t apologize to him for calling him “fat” after your breakup with the Rockets.
I wish he woulda went through with it. I never apologized to him, but I’ll tell you what: He only got arrested for throwing some little white guys out of a window. I ain’t never seen him fight a Black man unless there were referees around. He plays his role like he’s tough. I don’t know nobody he done whooped. Go back and check his record. Did I apologize to him? I told him to get me the hell out of there. That’s what I recall.

I like Finley. He been around and paid his dues.
I might’ve preferred someone from outside the organization, but I’m not upset with giving Fin a shot. Would guess there’s another hire coming under him and he won’t be responsible for EVERYTHING. Mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I’ve seen Battier thrown around as a guy that might make sense as a GM and is very tight with both Finley and Dirk.
Kidd… whatever. I’ve been convinced it would be Mosley but I don’t know that Kidd is worse than that. Mosley’s one real positive attribute is Luka likes him.

I just don't want a coach that enables Luka into whatever bad habits he may be developing
I want someone who can reach him, get to him and that Luka won't just run over. Of course he's going to be treated with kid gloves but as much as someone can actually coach the kid the better. If that's Mosley so be it but just don't want a yes man

Coupé It
Scottie be in his feels. His thing with Chuck goes back when they were in Houston together on the Rockets. Chuck had a good playoff series and Scottie played kind of poorly. He had a few bad turnovers that cost them the game that eliminated them. In the post game conference, Scottie went on to throw Chuck under the bus and said he was the reason they lost. Feuded for a while after that but Chuck wanted to clear the air and move past it but Scottie didn’t really want any part of it.

He's there to help Cuban and his big game hunting of free agents.
Here's the problem, the best things to happen to the Mavs in the last 10 years outside of drafting Luka is guys NOT taking Cuban's money.

Very few GMs actually know how to turn a franchise around. As long as you're not giving out terrible contracts and trading picks in every package its hard to really **** up.
This business involves a lot of luck (injuries, trades going through, draft lotto, etc). Not mad at the hiring of agents, or people with connections in general with no front office experience.

all of them weren't playing their best. Akeem, Pip and Barkley played like old men. I had high hopes for the Rockets that time. but I guess, chemistry and coaching was also an issue and who would be the big guy in that team. funny because it seems that the entire Rockets offense was dictated by Cuttino Mobley.

Barkley was arguably playing the best out of them though and I think that’s what pissed Pip off. Especially when it was his turnovers that essentially ended their playoff run in that elimination game.
