In Kuz's case, he's an inconsistent shooter and has a shaky handle. Also seemingly lost his touch he had his rookie year for floaters and flip shots.

But he rounded out his game this past season to be a better passer and defender.

SOON.

serious (maybe dumb) question, what stops a player with all the (physical) tools from being a star in the L. for example, what's stopping a kuzma/jeff green/rudy gay from being a tatum/kawhi/jimmy b? i wanna hear y'all thots

Talent.

All those guys would (or would have) put up decent numbers with starters minutes but their ceilings aren’t that of All NBA level players.

why isn't he a consistent shooter & why doesn't he have a non-shaky handle?

why not?

define talent

Na it’s not talent. All these dudes are talented.

It’s straight up the work that you put in. From time in the gym to game tape, even watching yourself workout does wonders. If I was a trainer I’d have a GoPro on so the player can see how they look when being guarded.

Idk anyone that hasn’t gotten better by actually putting work in the gym. Like actual hours, not 1 hour a day and then go back to videogames and yacht life. Laziness is a disease and a lot of super talented players have it.

Constant repetition is the path to progression. You gotta have the will to be great.

Kuz keeps changing his game every year :lol. Used to just catch and shoot or catch and drive no more than 2-3 dribbles. Then he worked with Kobe and came back trying to work the mid post and do fadeaways for about a month before he let that go. Then LeBron shows up and he tried to be a point forward and start mixing dudes with his struggle handles. Then he finally starts playing like an inconsistent glue guy that can't really be relied on to do any one thing on a nightly basis

It’s levels to talent though. Lonzo can work with every dribbling guru in the history of ever and he’s still going to have that stiff upright handle which is going to cap what he can do off the dribble. His brother is far more flexible so you already see he has a higher ceiling.

you can be in the gym all you want but there are levels to where you can reach based on your talent. Can’t assume guys don’t work on their game because a lot of them do. Talent. Opportunity. Confidence.

So you think all NBA players are operating from a level playing field talent wise?

To me that’s like saying all billionaires are rich.

That’s true but there’s still a big difference between someone with 1 bill and say Bezos.

Using that analogy you don’t think Bezos worked harder to build Amazon? Hire the right people? Not be stubborn and actually change with the times to grow his business? Find ways to be better than his competition?

Theres a different work ethic I always notice in people who actually are on a whole other level. Most of them fail at previous businesses too.

Edit - The analogy I was gonna use is people that go to college and try to get accepted into a competitive program. Let’s say med school. Theyre all somewhat smart in some way I’d say. But for some it takes years just to figure out how to study the right or most efficient way. For others they’ll party, drink, w.e and leave everything to last minute. Others study every single day.

Ofcourse there are outliers like students who have photographic memory, but it’s clear who works harder than the others for their grades and actually gets admitted into these programs.

I remember you said the same thing about Jalen brown tho 🤔

I definitely think it's between the ears more than anything. I've seen enough guys in person and on TV who just straight up weren't that talented but eventually they got it together and their whole energy just switched up. Confidence is a learned skill

Hard work x talent >>> *

Okay so Bezos put the work in...

Now let’s go back to 1995 and make him borderline ******ed.... Does he get to where he is at today?
