At his peak though — he was. There really wasn’t a PG close to him. As good as they were with KD, I wish we would’ve seen more of him during those years without him. But again, he may not even have been able to make it through those years physically the same way.

See...the majority of the people in this thread (A lot of Lakers/LeBron & Harden fans now...funny enough...and general nba media do not agree with this take). Funny synergy :lol

Ive never seen atlsfinest atlsfinest & Maximus Meridius Maximus Meridius so gleeful :lol.

The truth is, a lot of these folks never believed Steph Curry was “that”.

And this 2-3 Warriors bad start is what they are using as their validation. Absolutely NOTHING else.

But this what YALL want :lol.

I wanna cry man
Y’all finally seeing the light
Come home

This is really the only bizarre thing about this entire convo.

****** are trying to rationally explain how anything that happening in the 2020-2021 season...somehow has an effect on what's been put up in the history books already.

If you gonna be funny, be funny and the get the jokes off. I get it. But some ****** be DEAD serious with some of this **** you know exactly who they are.:smh:

Only STEPH gets this reaction out of a very specific crowd...and you know why. That hurt is permanent.

Steph needs to play better. The Warriors need to adjust. Tough spot right now for them, but he/Kerr good and smart enough to figure things out. Might be a mix of a too stubborn Kerr philosophy in a rapidly changing league with different rosters and also Steph being probably too damn coach able. He’s not breaking the mold at all lol.

But the idea that THIS lil 2-3 start is the indictment on if he was/is ever a truly top tier elite player is just not true.

But it’s what nba fans want to be true :lol. And those reasons, ppl do not want to admit.

dacomeup dacomeup won’t admit it :lol.

No it’s not. He’s a top 25 player of all time regardless at this point. It’s all about where the final dust settles.

Steph is easily a top 25 player ever, we're in agreement on that much. I start to question when I see lists that have him in the 10-20 range though

To be fair, let's not forget the Warriors with Steph were getting their heads bashed in last year before Steph milked an injury for the majority of the season so his team could tank.

KD really did tip the scales in a way that was overwhelming.

Y'ALL like to attribute Steph to 'stopping' Bron except in reality he did it once and that was when he was without his 2nd and 3rd best players. Acting like Wardell was THAT guy out there after KD came is also being disingenuous to what actually happened. And now that KD AND Klay are gone, Dubs are in the projects. Something ain't adding up.

Why are you lying. Or you just don’t want the truth? I mean, it’s been explained to you countless times that a 6-8 week injury, surgery and recovery in November puts you at Late Feb/Early March. And the guy came back in March, and this little thing called COVID-19 happened the very next day.

But again, this is something you don’t want to be true :lol.

Can't blame Kerr too much. Once Klay got hurt, Kerr had like two weeks to prep. But at the same time, I feel he'll be too stubborn to adjust his system enough. And does Steph want the stress of carrying the offense in a lost season? Do the Warriors want to put that stress on Steph?

 At curry aging out. Man if harden look like that next year (if harden still a rocket lol) when he’s 32 I will be highly disappointed.

That excuse is just sad. Worst than 2016 curry “I’m back” torching the blazers to he’s still hurt when locked up by Kevin love

He's certainly a great player and the greatest shooter of all time. Even the biggest Steph haters will agree on that. His inability to even keep his team competitive without multiple superstars around him is an indictment on his "that guy" status. I remember when people genuinely thought Steph was better than LeBron.

Many of us wondered what Steph would look like without a massive talent advantage.

Do you think he was drafted in 2015 or something? :smh:

Peak Steph Curry was the best PG I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m also too young for Magic though since I was born at the end of 89 so I can’t really give an actual opinion outside of film.

I’m not sure I agree that general NBA media doesn’t agree though. NBA media LOVED Steph during that run. His emergence was one of the biggest moments of the last decade.

I personally just think that there’s a lack of nuanced discussion around him in this thread in general. People are just dug in on either side and of course are going to cherry-pick whatever to support their point. Down to DC sarcastically picking posts to say “Steph is fraud”. I can admit that he’s the best PG I’ve seen and also acknowledge that this start of the year is not what I expected and he deserves critique for that. It’s also a long season so I’m sure we’ll be having a lot more discussion (DAILY ) on Steph regardless. You also had Top 4 expectations for this team too 8o

Lock step and similar age as well

Don’t try to “both sides” this man :lol. You see it. The “other side” is like arguing with damn republicans or something lol.

The framing is incredibly off. And you know it. Very few posters in here on the “other side” have absolutely any nuance when discussing Steph. The talk is...great player, great shooter...but not “that”, and only reason he’s good is because of the talent put around him.I know you got yours blinders on my guy...but you see it.

And yup. This hinges a lot on the development on Oubre and Wiggins...and Steph playing up to par tho. He needs to be a 29/7/5 guy on good efficiency on his end. He’s capable of that. Meet the mark. I think he’ll get there. Completely unsure about the other wings and Dray.

Steve Kerr is also doing a whole lot of experimenting right now with personnel.

dacomeup dacomeup won’t admit it .
I think that we disagree that it’s just a Bron/Steph thing though . Half of these Lakers fans haven’t even liked Bron until the last few years. But that definitely plays a part in it for sure, but there’s so much more than that which I’ve talked about earlier. Light years, the front running, etc. It’s more than you try to minimize it to too.

Even If It’s agreed that magic>steph I don’t think it’s that wild for steph to be top 20 or even 15

I think they are banking on PG, Batum, Kennard, Kawhi and Ty Lue's system to improve their passing chops instead of getting a primary playmaker.

w

So far, so good on this. Kawhi’s currently at 6.5 APG (remarkably had 9 last night in game the Clips shot under 40 percent) and PG’s getting 5.5. About 3 each for Batum and Lou. Playmaking by committee.

This is your fault moe. :lol

I have been saying since the that big 2016 debate. Steph is the goat shooter but he lacks in other areas and it's being exposed now.

You came into this year saying they would win what 50? Oubre and Wiggins bout to have great years because they're finally gonna be coached. Unless they play the Bulls and Wizards every night these dudes ain't sniffing no 50 wins. Other Steph fans now saying he old he they trade him, his prime is being wasted. Wow.
