I don't see the Mavs making the playoffs this year...that team is bad. They can make the excuse about Covid and injuries but there are plenty of other teams who are all figuring things out too this season but they're still looking a lot better. Mavs are entirely dependent on Luka playing 1 on 5 and either carrying them or hoping he can create open looks for their bad shooters.
Nobody was hit worse than Dallas or even close maybe besides Miami

They were missing their entire starting lineup besides Luka and 6th man at the same time

They aren't similar to these other teams who are "figuring things out"

But I agree, the Playoffs aren't some guarantee. They were already having to face the task of swapping out Seth for Richardson with no training camp. No KP to start the year. Powell coming back from the achilles

They might be behind the 8 ball now trying to figure things out on the fly and playing catch up all year

Nah. THat is too complex of an answer.

Around here, we like simple reasons explaining why a team isn't successful.

Their best player needs to do more. That simple.

yea houston had a stay at home order until 4/30, and then indoor dining been opened since. Clubs/bars wasn’t too far behind and opened probably mid to late May.

Clubs and Bars have been the biggest issues and biggest reason of spreading Covid from the start.

And people in Houston (and Texas in general) acted like they had been in literal jail and were losing their damn minds. They should be ashamed of themselves cause they’re the reason it doesn’t look like an end in sight for Covid. Had all these bars circumventing restrictions but pretending to be restaurants. There was even one place (‘Taste’) that intentionally kept Covid-laced employees at work, and they ended up firing a girl that went to social media and exposed what they were doing.
not surprised. just look at the majority of that mob that stormed the capitol of where they came from.
