The state of FL is loaded much like 2 years ago was. I just think that recruits are taking a wait and see approach with Miami. Another mediocre year andShannon's job security comes into question along with his coaching ability. Nobody wants to come into that situation If Miami turns the corner thenrecruits will pour in.

7. Jeremiah Masoli, Oregon: He's short (around 5-10) and built more like a fullback than a QB, but Chip Kelly has done a great job of moving him around and giving him different release points. Masoli has a very powerful arm and can run over tacklers. Ask Oklahoma State how dangerous a dual-threat guy he is.

What people don't realize was that he was recruited for his passing skills out of JC. Keep an eye out for him this year now that he's comfortable withthe system and knows what he's doing with the plays.

I caaaaaaaaaan not wait...

New Rivals 100 out so I figured we can get some discussion going

Things that stood out to me:

  • Ronald Powell moving up to 3 is much deserved. He dominated everywhere he went and I expect the same at FNL.
  • Stripling at 28
    roll.gif
  • Ambles stays at 43 but Victor Hampton and Turner fall out of the 100 because of character issues. Ambles got his UA game offer pulled along with USC among others. I don't know what else besides that rumor is going on with him but he can play and I'll take him at UF since we're a bunch of reckless criminals.
  • Simms being the highest rated QB at 54
    eek.gif
  • Lemonier is only at 76. A top 5 player in FL is good for a spot better than 76
  • Orr getting into the 100 from outside the 250
Those are just my quick impressions will go back and look more in depth later.

Miami fans goin crazy at one another.

@ 4'11

Robey is the cousin of Georgia rising sophomore Carlton Thomas, a running back who also starred at Frostproof.

Asked to compare the two, Metheny said: "Nickell is probably a step faster. Carlton is probably a little thicker. They're both tremendous athletes."

Robey was electronically times at 4.37 seconds and 4.38 seconds during camps at Florida and Tennessee, respectively, Metheny said. He is the two-time state runner-up in the long jump at more than 24 feet and set the UnderArmor record for the broad jump with a leap of 10 feet, 3 inches, this summer, according to Metheny. Robey had more than 1,800 all-purpose yards as a slot receiver and kick returner last season.

"Unbelievably explosive," Metheny said.

Doesn't seem that impressive to me either... But he may be a Gator too. So 28 sounds about right to me.

From everything I've heard, expect him to move up even higher. We are getting him for DT but he played TE in hs last year.

Big impression
Who were some prospects you saw during the May evaluation process that impressed you?

-----
I did have a chance to see some spring games and practices in the Tampa Bay area, and I saw some super-looking prospects as well as somesleepers and a few football studs for the Class of 2011.

Leon Orr plays tight end and linebacker for Gulf High at 310 pounds.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was Florida commitment Leon Orr, of New PortRichey Gulf. I already knew Orr was quite a talent after viewing film and seeing him in a 7-on-7 in Tampa in March. But after watching him in pads and play onboth sides of the ball, I now am a firm believer that he is one of the best big men in the nation. Orr reminds me of Glenn "Big Baby" Davis (BostonCeltics) at the same stage.
Orr (6 feet 6/310 pounds) played tight end and strongside linebacker during his intrasquad spring game. He hasamazing athleticism, speed and agility for a player his size. Offensively, Orr was running long patterns, such as post and corner routes, and getting open. Healso ran short patterns, showed soft hands and the ability to make something happen with the ball in his hands. On the game's first play, he caught a shortdig over the middle and made a spin move in the open field (though he fumbled when being tackled). To see a player at his size move the way he does isunbelievable. They even ran a shovel pass to Orr.
laugh.gif

As a blocker, Orr was dominant. He is quick off the ball and is an excellent run-blocker. Orr has terrificfootwork and can move side to side as well as anyone I have seen in this class. He has a great frame, long arms, good balance and great hips. In fact, Orrwould make one heck of an offensive tackle prospect at the next level.

What I really wanted to see was Orr on the defensive side of the ball. Although I was disappointed hedidn't put his hand down and play defensive tackle, Orr didn't disappoint at linebacker. On one play, he shot around the edge, blew up a would-beblocker and sacked the quarterback. During the game, Orr showed he can take on blockers, then go find the ball. He showed aggressiveness and played physical attimes.

The bottom line is that Orr has freakish physical tools. I still don't know what he's like in thetrenches battling players of somewhat equal size and abilities. But everything else is top-notch.

VT vs Boise State at Fed Ex Field to open the 2010 season. Not sure if we're going to Boise in 2011 but it's a possibility. Good job by Weaver toupgrade the cupcake OOS schedule we have that year, even though Syracuse was the one that asked out of the game
Lattimore gives the scoop
Chris Clark
GamecockCentral.com

Talk about it in The Tribal Council
Duncan (SC) Byrnes RB Marcus Lattimore recently changed up his visit plans, and USC will benefit as a result.

The Gamecocks host their Showcase camp this coming weekend, and will now have two of their biggest targets in Lattimore and teammate Nick Jones on campus.

Lattimore will be on USC's campus yet again this weekend
"We're going to visit on Friday and then work out for the coaches on Saturday," Lattimore told GamecockCentral.com. "We're going to go to Penn State next Friday."

A recent report quoted Lattimore as saying that Oregon, North Carolina, and Penn State were going to make his final cut, and he said the same on Tuesday night.

"The other two will come in the next couple of weeks," he said.

Lattimore plans on keeping only one of the in-state programs on his list. Does he know yet who it will be?

"I don't know yet, but I should know after this week," he said.

The big-time running back, rated the seventh-best player in the country by Rivals.com, has a great relationship with the coaching staff at USC and spoke with GamecockCentral.com about a few of them.

"Coach (Steve) Spurrier, he's just straight-forward," Lattimore said. "He is confident in getting the offense to the next level and has let me know that."

South Carolina defensive line coach Brad Lawing recruits the Upstate for Carolina and has drawn a lot of respect from the talented back.

"Coach Lawing has been my man for the longest and he's been recruiting me the longest," he said. "He's a good guy."

Jay Graham has done a great job building a relationship with Lattimore after the departure of former running backs coach Robert Gillespie.

"Coach Graham is a real cool guy and he knows what it takes to go the NFL because he played there," he said.

Eric Wolford recently impressed Lattimore on an unofficial visit to South Carolina.

"He is cool also," he said of USC's offensive line coach. "He's real intense. He's bringing in some good o-linemen and I'm confident he can help get the offense where it needs to be."

Lattimore has obviously noticed that Carolina has landed seven offensive lineman in an already impressive recruiting class.

"Oh, it's awesome," he observed of USC's Class of 2010. "They are bringing in good o-linemen and I am excited about that. I talk with A.J. (Cann), Tramell (Williams), and (Eric) Mack a good bit and they just tell me that they will pave the way and hold the line up."

Lattimore also talks with two other recruits that could be handing off to him in the future.

"I talk with Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson too," he said.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle USC has to overcome in Lattimore's recruitment is showing him that South Carolina is committed to improving their run game, and it looks like they are well on their way to doing so.

"I am excited," he said. "I think they are committed to the run game and with the addition of Coach Wolford the sky is the limit."

For those expecting an early decision from Lattimore, don't hold your breath, as he said he would likely not make his decision decision until the day before Signing Day.

Lattimore's top 5, IMO (in order)

USC, FSU, UNC, PSU, UO

McGee takes a stand: Georgia
no longer welcome at Carver
Carver of Columbus coach Dell McGee has banned the University of Georgia from recruiting his players because quarterback Devin Burns had his scholarship offer pulled on a visit last weekend, just as he was about to make a commitment.

"To protect our kids and my program, Georgia won't be welcome on my campus," McGee told GHSF Daily late Monday evening. "They're not going to recruit anybody."

According to McGee, Burns and Carver teammate Corey Crawford traveled to Athens on Saturday expecting to commit to Georgia.

Burns' parents and four younger siblings accompanied Burns, whose plan was to accept Georgia's offer in person to head coach Mark Richt, McGee said.

When Georgia became aware of Burns' plans, an assistant coach intervened and told Burns that he no longer had a scholarship offer, McGee said. McGee would not identify the assistant.

Crawford, a highly rated defensive end, then decided against committing, McGee said. Several other Carver players had come to Athens to celebrate the moment, McGee said.

"I understand an offer being rescinded, but the way in which it was done, the embarrassment that the family felt with their high expectations of committing that day, I just feel bad for that kid and his family," McGee said. "That part doesn't sit well with me, especially when you know how emotional mothers are when their babies are getting ready to go to college. ... They're heartbroken."

Per NCAA rules, college coaches are not allowed to comment on recruits. Attempts to reach Georgia coaches and communications officials late Monday were unsuccessful.

McGee said he spoke with Richt on Sunday by phone.

"I told him how I felt, and he said he supported my decision and said he didn't blame me," McGee said. "He apologized. He admitted that they screwed up and didn't handle the situation correctly."

McGee said the scholarship offer was made last spring by Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo during Bobo's visit to a practice. Bobo reaffirmed the offer later in the spring, McGee said.

McGee is a former NFL player who played at Auburn. He is close to Georgia assistant coaches Stacy Searels and Rodney Garner, who also played at Auburn. In fact, the three were together on Auburn's undefeated 1993 team, McGee as a player, Searels as a graduate assistant and Garner as an assitant coach. McGee said he didn't want to assign blame to anyone in particular.

"I respect Coach Richt; I know he's a Christian guy," McGee said. "He's a model coach and father. It's just a big breakdown in their communication within the coaching staff at Georgia, and that's kind of sad. I'm sure they'll get it corrected."

In the meantime, McGee says hands off. That includes running back Isaiah Crowell and defensive tackle Gabriel Wright, generally regarded as two of the top 10 juniors in Georgia. They were with Burns in Athens last weekend, and both reportedly have early offers from Georgia.

McGee became Carver's coach in 2005. The school had not had a winning season in 10 years but won the Class AAA championship in McGee's third season. The school has produced several major recruits, including linebacker Jarvis Jones in 2008. Jones signed with Southern Cal.

This season, Carver has four seniors who are rated among the top 100 players in Georgia by Scout.com. Only Southwest DeKalb, with four, has as many.

McGee would not say if the ban was permanent.

"Mark Richt is a class guy; I'm sure he'll write a letter of apology and things of that sort," McGee said. "It's going to take time. I've got to stand up for kids in my program."

Sounds like a non commitable offer to me.

Foul...

Stripling committed to UGA today, so that already makes 5 DEs in the class. I guess after not having a pass rush for the last 2 years, Richt is hellbent onfinding one...

Heres the word,
Scroggins was supposed to Commit today (USC) but he pushed it back a day.
Seems he Likes UT alot but family financial situation could keep him in Cali.

also word is,
If Scroggins were to committ to tennessee, Stone, Ambles and Matt Milton a 6-5 Wr out of Ill.would immediately jump aboard and commit to UTk

Buddy was reasoning with me, that If Scroggins goes to USC, he likely wont ever see the field, if he goes to UTk he plays almost immediately.

but I countered. thanks to matt cassel, not playin at USC, is now no longer an issue at QB.
