'09 COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFF-SEASON THREAD-recruiting/Coaching Changes/Transfers

FWIW, here are 40 times from A&M's Pro Day:

Lane, McGee, and Brantly didn't run.

40 times. These aren't the official ones but times I saw. Ill have the officials at the end.

Batson 4.53
Bennett 4.88 (4.97)
Brown 4.53
Calloway 4.56
Dixon 4.62
Gbunblee 4.72
Goodson 4.48 (4.54)
Gorrer 4.40
Gregg 4.65
Lamantia 4.65
Obiozor 4.71
Warren 5.12

Not real sure why Justin Warren is there, but he is. Supposedly Lane didn't work out at all today, choosing instead to go to class

People are sayinghe's decided to focus on getting his degree for now (second round of tests are here). He'll be at SFA's Pro Day in late April.

I put the 40 times from the combine beside Goodson's and Bennett's Pro Time days (Combine times are in parentheses). This way y'all can kinda get afeel for what people's times are gonna be like at their Pro Days since many believe that the Combine field was pretty slow. Oh, and Goodson also pulled uplame today while running his 40...tweaked a hammy probably.

Larry Coker got another job...

Talk about it in Football Recruiting Board
In the end, David Oku of Lincoln (Neb.) East said he felt like he had to stick with his word.

David Oku has signed with Tennessee.
Oku, the nations' No. 1 all-purpose back, told Rivals.com Thursday evening he has signed his national letter of intent with Tennessee, the school he originally committed to early in the recruiting process before he opened his recruitment again and looked at schools like Auburn, Syracuse, Ole Miss and others.

"I signed and faxed my papers in about 7:30," said Oku, who moved recently from Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert to Nebraska to focus on academics.

"I felt like I had to stick with my word. I really feel like the offense is going to be a good fit for me, and the coaches also made me feel really comfortable."

Oku originally committed to Tennessee back on Oct. 18, but then he backed out of it after the coaching change in Knoxville. He later took an visits to Syracuse and Auburn after earlier visiting Tennessee, Nebraska and Louisville. Ole Miss and Clemson were also somewhat involved, but in the end, he decided to sign with Tennessee.

"Sometimes you know how you get cold feet, and that's kind of what happened here," Oku said.

"But I also have a great relationship with Gerald Jones since he's from Oklahoma, too. He's going to be there for a while, and I'll be able to look to him for guidance and support.

"But I'm done now. All the worries are gone. I'm excited to be a Vol."

In a report set to be released this afternoon, the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions said that the school must vacate all wins in which 61 student-athletes in 10 sports - football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track and field, baseball, softball and men's golf - competed while ineligible during 2006 and 2007. Individual records of the student-athletes also will be vacated. That includes regular season, postseason and any NCAA championship competition.

It's unclear at this time how each sport will be affected by the sanction, but FSU football won seven games each in 2006 and 2007 and any vacated win would move legendary coach Bobby Bowden further behind Penn State's Joe Paterno as the Division I-A all-time leader. Paterno has 383 wins and Bowden ended last season with 382.

Just thought it was worth mentioning... All signs point to Reggie Wilson committing to Texas soon and pushing the commit total to 20 before spring ball evenstarts...

I hope they don't have to give up the track championship.

Some people are saying they are, some are saying they don't have to because of the people involved.
Apparently, someone inside the university has said that no ineligible players in football participated.
