09 Real Deal College Football Discussion/No Homers - Lets geh geh GET IT!

I remember telling one of my friends who was watching the game with me that after that awful swing screen to the RB that lost more yards, that they basicallyhad to go to the end zone or nothing else would matter. Unfortunately Les wasn't prepared for if somebody caught it before then. All on Les.

If im not mistaken, JJ said after Toliver caught it, he expected the FG unit to come in so I guess that when he went to the sideline and saw Les telling him tospike it. He didn't know what the hell was going on and that might have thrown him in a loop.

all these dudes trying to save face now and coming up with BS

les @%+@!@ up the whole thing worse and JJ didn't help with using common sense and seen he had no time to clock the ball

Well in defense (partial) to JJ the pressure up the middle didn't allow him to step into the throw but lol'z anyways.

- I am told that Lane Kiffin was talking some UK trash tonight on his radio show and may have mentioned wearing "25th anniversary uniforms" to celebrate the 25th straight win coming on Saturday. Can anyone confirm this with quotes? And if you can find the audio, let me know….I know a certain UK football team that would like to hear it.

Clemson is getting the Pro Combat uniforms for this weekend against South Carolina. Jerseys are fine, simple. Pants are ugly, they're too modern for thejersey. Cleats are dope as #%$@. Gloves are cool, not as detailed as the main schools that got them.

Edited with the pants. Those are the major difference...and

^ i was surprised that clemson and a couple of other schools (ok st, boise) didnt get them with the initial run, considering how many uni combos they have

they look the ...exactly the same. are there diff angles?

Janzen Jackson is back and he's starting.

Les Miles
The gist of Miles' message: He shouldered the blame for the missed opportunity.

"I regret the mistake," Miles said late in his opening monologue. "It cost my team a best opportunity at victory. In 48 hours I've gone through the pain of this, and it's not something I enjoy."

Miles also said he intends to learn from the loss.

"We went through these situations very thoroughly as a staff, and I've learned," Miles said. "I've got to get it right. It's my fault. It will be fixed. It's my responsibility."

In the aftermath of the loss, several key coaching decisions were questioned, challenged, dissected and ridiculed by the media and served as fodder for message boards and talk shows, many that dragged on until the wee hours of Sunday.

1. Why there was no attempt to set up a potential game-winning field goal with running plays after the Tigers recovered an onside kick and got as deep as the Ole Miss 32-yard-line on a screen pass to Brandon LaFell?

2. Why did 17 seconds drip off the clock before the Tigers called their final timeout after losing 16 yards on back-to-back plays that knocked them out of field-goal range?

3. Why did quarterback Jordan Jefferson spike the ball at the 5-yard-line with 1 second on the clock after a 43-yard Hail Mary pass to Terrance Toliver on fourth down?

4. Why did Miles say he didn't know who told Jefferson to spike the ball? A sideline video shot by WBRZ sports director Michael Cauble allegedly shows Miles signaling for his quarterback to do so.

The most damning subject, or at least the one the national media latched onto, was the notion Miles lied about not knowing who signaled Jefferson to spike the ball.
Police mum regarding Rather Hall altercation
By Brittany Shammas (Last updated: 15 hours ago)
Police and university officials were tight-lipped Monday about what witnesses have described as a multiple-person assaultthat happened at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rather Hall lounge.

Witnesses and students involved in the incident said a group of 15 to 20 men,who some described as MSU football players, stormed into the dormitoryand hit and injured about seven students, some of them women.

Brent Mitchell, a communication junior who said he was sent to Lansing's Sparrow Hospital after being punched in theface, said some of the men wore ski masks, but others were recognized as football teammembers.

"I walked up and said, 'It isn't worth it.' A guy with dreadlocks hit me and in the scuffle slapped, hitfemales to get them out of the way," Mitchell said.

MSU police directed all questions regarding the incidentto University Relations, which issued a statement saying police were investigating an altercation involving several people. MSU spokesman Terry Denbow said the fight involved multiple victims and suspects.

MSU associate athletics directorJohn Lewandowski said questions about the incident should be directed to Denbow.

Denbow said he was not aware of any arrests and did not know further details about injuries sustained by thoseinvolved.

"Investigation is continuing," he said. "I can't go beyond that."

He would not comment on whether the men involved were members of the football team.

"It's always my policy not to identify people by any activity they are involved in," he said. "Youwouldn't say members of debate team or Sigma Chi. It's important to be consistent."

Mitchell said members of his fraternity, Iota Phi Theta, had just finished a potluck event and were folding chairs inthe lounge when the men entered. The men said they were looking for a man who had been involved in a spat with one of them the night before during an Iota PhiTheta event at The Small Planet, 16800 Chandler Road, Mitchell said.

Mitchell said he was struck after the men realized the person they sought wasn't there. He said the altercationlasted for about a minute before the men left.

Mechanical engineering sophomore Andrew Green said he saw one of the men hit another student on his way out.

"He was coming downstairs and looked at him and punched him in the jaw," Green said.

Journalism freshman Mitch Lex said he entered the lounge as police arrived. About eight police officers were in thelobby and blood was on the floor, Lex said. Before bystanders were asked to leave, Lex said he saw one injured man.

"There was some medic treating this kid sitting in lounge area," he said. "It looked like he had abaseball in his cheek."

Mitchell said, above all, he was upset the event symbolizing the end of a week of community service ended withviolence.

"Physically, I'm okay," he said. "But I'm just saddened that (the event) ended the way itdid."

Beatin up on women and Iotas... cmon son. cmon.

Dallas Jackson is the high school sports expert for RivalsHigh.com. Send him a question or comment at [email protected] and follow him at twitter.com/rivalshigh.

Our quest to determine which state is best for high school football continues - mainly because the e-mails about our efforts continue to pour in.

First, there was the RivalsHigh Greatest State Debate, our own tournament creation.

Then, there were my personal rankings.

But still, the e-mails persist.

How can you not rate California higher? It produces the most D1 players, our readers write.

Our readers are right on that point.

But my continued analysis that the Golden State is a bit down remains accurate. Here's why: Much of California's success comes from its huge population base.

California produced the third-highest number of signees in 2009. But when you average the number of signees against the number of participants, California's success rate goes way down.

At just one signee for every 438 players, it doesn't even make the top 15 states for producing talent.

Is that you laughing Texas? I hope not. You're just two spots ahead of California. And both of you are below Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.

These rankings were created by dividing the number of D1 signees in the Rivals.com database into the number of participants in the sport, according to the National Federation of High School Sports participation survey.

Not buying it? Think these rankings must be flawed? Think again. Traditional high school strongholds Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania all fared well, ranking above California and Texas.

As did Florida.

Hate to break it to you California and Texas - but in these rankings, Florida is No. 1. The Sunshine State's number is amazing as it produced one D1 signee for every 127 participants.

As with our previous rankings, it is open to interpretation and debate. So send us an e-mail... or post on the board.

OFFICIAL INQUIRY?

It has been reported that Rogers Redding, the Southeastern Conference's director of football officials, has met with league commissioner Mike Slive in the wake of allegations levied against SEC official Wally Hough.

A former University of Florida lineman and ex-president of the Putnam County Gator Club according to a St. Pete Times report, Hough has twice been involved with controversial calls in University of Tennessee games. Most recently Hough called the pass interference call in the end zone against Vols cornerback Anthony Anderson Saturday night against Vanderbilt.

Hough's on-field demeanor also has come into question, according to sources. It has been indicated that Hough told at least one Volunteer player to "Shut up!" as that player attempted to ask a question during the game against Vanderbilt.

Cullen Christian is set to announce here pretty quick. Sounds like it will be in favor of us, which its pretty much been us throughout his recruitment.

Looks like a very good CB prospect. I just hope some of the youngins can grab a spot and make Williams and Kovacs ride the bench next year.

Did anyone post this yet?:

Memphis to hire Jerry Gray as their hew hc
Sources: Gray to be hired at Memphis
Memphis is expected to announce Washington ******** secondary coach Jerry Gray as its new head coach, multiple people familiar with the process said Tuesday.

Gray interviewed this week and was a finalist for the position along with LSU running backs coach Larry Porter.

The announcement, assuming there are no unforeseen developments, is not expected to come until after Memphis has played its final game under outgoing coach Tommy West.

Porter played for Memphis and was long considered a favorite for the position.

But Gray was recommended to Memphis by Joe Gibbs, one source said, and had a connection to Fred Smith, the key Memphis booster and founder of FedEx, who is also tied in to the ******** organization.

Is my tv broke or did Skip Bayless just say if there was an all-time college football draft he would take Tebow number 1?

Did this northwest douche hosting the Rome show just say that Masoli should be in the same discussion as Tebow?

I hope he just meant because they are both QB's and that's all.
