Umm it's not unusual, players that get moved in the offseason to different teams often wait until their first appearance at their former team's placeto get their ring...see James Posey from last year.

Ayo, wake up. The first Houston game in LA is like week 3.
But ESPN schedule breakdown guy says he won't get the ring until January or February when the Rockets return again to LA.
Ya'll with me now?

I HIGHLY doubt that Phil is going to pursue or let us even get close to 70 wins or whatever people are thinking.
Ya'll know that we play a little loose sometimes and let some games get away from us, and now we've added a known head case much like Lamar so it's possible our focus could be down even a tad further.
Also with our success last season, we could lose a tiny bit of that drive.
Throw in some advancing age on a couple players, the desire to maybe nurse Bynum a little more (especially against Memphis) and a need to lower the minutes on some guys to stay fresh for what will be our THIRD straight long postseason run, and Phil is going to practially give some games away. (ya'll know how he does those no timeout games, weird subs, sit guys for entire 4th quarters, things like that)
All in the name of building up a steady roll all the way to mid Feb, at which point he usually likes to drop the hammer on his guys. (Pop is very much this same way in San Antonio)
Now, once we are all together, healthy, hopefully firing on all cylinders, we should be right where we want to be in June.
I think regular season wise, we could top out around 64-67 wins. But we could have a playoff run where we only lose 2, maybe 3 games by the time the finals roll around.
But, alot can happen, injuries, trades, etc etc so we shall see. But again, I doubt very seriously that Phil gives a damn about 70 wins, he may not even push all that hard for homecourt like he did last year.

there is one guy on this year's squad who has not tasted a championship. there is no doubt in my mind that ron artest will probably be the most focused inwinning a title this year on this laker team...
Artest is a headcase but he's not a slacker like Lamar. From reading Rockets and Kings boards they all say he has his flaws but he never takesa game off as far as effort goes. Rocket fans especially talked about how that rubbed off on the whole team. I think that alone is enough for me to put mymoney on 70+ wins. This team is built for it, nothing but seasoned vets and contract players.Originally Posted by CP1708

I'm pretty sure with how loaded this squad is that Kobe's and Pau's minutes will be similar to what they played or even less last year, Kobe didn't play but 36 minutes a game last year and Pau was around that number until Drew got injured and they were both fresh going into the playoffs and took their games to another level. So I wouldn't worry about that as long as we stay healthy *cough Drew cough* , we could challenge for 70 wins, but that's not important. Having HC throughout will be important though cause all the other contending squads (Spurs, Magic, Celtics and Cavs) are loaded and having HC against them in the WCF and potentially the Finals will be huge.
I just hope we take advantage of the 17 of 21 home games to start the season, a record of 19-2 would be great.
