i think that with Ariza heading somewhere else most likely....theyre goin to find a way to resign Lamar..just my opinion...they cant really afford to lose him

Lamar Odom's negotiations with the Lakers took a bad turn on Monday.
"It's business, you know what I'm saying," said Odom on Monday. "It takes a little bit of the fun out of the game, but it's part of it."
Asked whether he felt at all unloved or unappreciated by the Lakers, Odom paused and said, "Ummm, it's just the way it is. It'll pay off."
He did however acknowledge a bit of disappointment the negotiations haven't gone as well as he'd hoped.

Who are the only teams with money? Portland? Mavs maybe? I don't see why you would want to go to any of those teams. I am trying to be patient. I am hopingfor the best. But when I hear that we are trying to give you 9 mil a season and you still won't take that I don't know what else you need.

The free agent says he's frustrated but hopeful a deal will get done despite lengthy negotiations, but Kupchak says he isn't as optimistic as he was. Rumors of interest from Miami swirl.

Lamar Odom sounded frustrated and hopeful at the same time.
He sounded frustrated he hasn't been able to come to terms with the Lakers on a contract. But he sounded hopeful he and the Lakers will get a deal done.
At the end of the day, Odom was asked, does he expect to be back playing for the Lakers next season?
"I don't know," Odom told The Times in a phone interview. "That's why there are negotiations. I don't know. Of course I hope they can get it done.
"It's negotiations. Both sides are going to give and take. That's part of it. I don't know how long it's going to take."
The Times has reported that Odom and his agent, Jeff Schwartz, are seeking $10 million a season. The Lakers have offered Odom a deal north of $9 million a season for the first three years.
Odom and Schwartz are seeking more money and years.
"I can't discuss that," said Odom, who attended a screening party Monday night for the DVD featuring the Lakers' 2008-09 championship run. "You talk about money, it's touchy. It's a touchy subject.
"The Lakers have been too good to me to rub people over there the wrong way. The Lakers have been nothing but great to me, and I want to keep the relationship great."
Lakers owner Jerry Buss, who improved on his offer of $8 million a season to Odom, is getting frustrated and is thinking about pulling the deal off the table soon.
Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak talked at halftime of a game between the Lakers and Clippers on Monday in Las Vegas at the summer league, saying that the talks with Odom left him "not as hopeful as I was on Friday."
When asked why, Kupchak said, "Just a feeling you get."
"Right now, I'm not sure we're on the same page."
Odom was asked whether it was true the Miami Heat had made him an offer.
The Heat has only the midlevel exception of $5.8 million but might be willing to give Odom a five-year, $34-million deal. Miami signed Odom to a five-year, $65-million contract in 2003 before trading him to the Lakers in 2004 in a deal involving Shaquille O'Neal.
"I don't know how to answer that question," Odom said about Miami being a suitor. "I'm pretty sure there might be other teams. I just won a championship."
Odom joined teammates Derek Fisher, Luke Walton and Jordan Farmar at Club Nokia at LA Live for the screening of the championship video.
Walton and Farmar said they didn't expect Odom to attend the screening because of his ongoing negotiations.
"I didn't expect it to be a two-day process." Odom said. "I expected it to be drawn out because it's negotiations. You never know how things will go."
Kupchak was asked whether he was ready to give up on the talks.
"Perhaps," Kupchak said. "I'm surprised it's taken this long to get to this point. Obviously, I have a lot more information than you guys do."
Odom was asked what would happen if he doesn't get a deal from the Lakers.
"I don't know. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, it might be sunny," Odom said. "Who knows what's going to happen? But I remain hopeful that it gets done."

In reading what Lamar is saying I don't know what to believe any more. It sounds like he want to get the deal done...but then it sounds as ifhe doesn't care.
I know he liked it in Miami but they are no where close to a title nor will they give him the 9 mil we can give him.
I understand where Buss and Kupchack are coming from. We are trying everything to make this happen. Everything but give him the 10 mil. But I thoughtnegotiations were give and take. If we have already improved on an 8 milion dollar deal to and 9 + mil deal I think LO needs to be a bit fair and take it. Itsa pay cut from the 14 mil but if you can't live on 9.5 mil a season you got problem.
I really don't know what to say any more. I believe that if we don't get a deal done by Friday I think he is good as gone.

I can't imagine seeing Lamar leaving. He will always be a Laker in my eyes.
He's waiting on Milsap, gotta be that easy. He wants to see how much Portland would offer him. They the only team out there with money, and a decent teamto play on. But it would be a similar role for him as well, 6th man, come in for either Oden, or Alridge depening on fouls, minutes what have you.

While forward optimistic of return, GM Kupchak expresses his frustration, says no further plans to speak with player's agent

While Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak was feeling frustrated and flustered in Las Vegas after a day of non-productive negotiations with Lamar Odom's agent Jeff Schwartz, Odom showed up at a party at Club Nokia on Monday night celebrating the launch of the DVD of the Lakers championship run and said he was still "hopeful" of returning to the team.
"It's business," Odom said. "It takes a little bit of the fun out of the game, but it's part of it."
Odom acknowledged disappointment with the pace of the negotiations and the Lakers reluctance to meet his asking price, but said he still "hoped" to return to the team in the fall.
"What's hard to do as an individual is separate the business. It's not personal. I know that.
That's why I have a representative," he said.
"It's just crazy because if you think about my career and playing basketball and somebody trying to do all the things to help a team win a championship, I felt like I've done that."
The strange turn of events Monday were an interesting public interlude in what has so far been a private negotiating process.
What's clear is that Odom would like to return to the Lakers and the team wants to have him back.
What's not clear is how serious the impasse between the two sides now is following Monday's turn of events.
"I'm not sure we're on the same page," Kupchak said while attending the Lakers summer league opener in Las Vegas against the Clippers
It's just a feeling you get. You have conversations with the player's representative and, right now, I'm not sure we're on the same page.
"I understand it's a process. I am surprised it's taken us so long to get to this point."
Kupchak added he had no further plans to speak with Odom's agent.
With the Lakers facing stiff luxury-tax penalties, no serious competition for Odom's services having arisen, and the financial future of the NBA as muddled as ever, the negotiations have dragged on longer than anyone imagined.
Odom would not divulge the financial terms he is seeking, but it is believed that he was asking for around $10 million a year. Lakers sources Friday afternoon acknowledged the team's current offer was around $8 million a year.
With so little separating the two positions, a deal seemed imminent until Monday's breakdown in negotiations.
When told of Kupchak's comments, Odom shrugged his shoulders and kept his eyes on the television screen showing the championship DVD.
"That's how negotiations are," he said. "Sometimes you're right on the same page and sometimes you're way off, that's just part of it."
Asked if he was feeling unappreciated, Odom paused a moment, then said, "Umm, it's just the way it is. It'll pay off. It'll pay off."
Odom showed up a half-hour after the celebration was supposed to start and organizers had initially been told he had decided not to come. After the information coming out of Las Vegas, his absence seemed to be related.
It turned out that he was just running late.
"In that case, I'm glad I came," he joked. "I mean, we have a whole DVD about our season. It just seems surreal. You don't ever know when or how or if you're going to experience this again."
Lakers teammates Derek Fisher, Luke Walton and Jordan Farmar also attended the premiere but said they would not be quizzing Odom on the progress in his negotiations.
"That's not for me to do. I'll just be happy to see him," Fisher said. "I haven't seen him since the season was over, and a month to not see a teammate is like a lifetime. I'm just excited to see him, but I won't bug him or pester him to see what's going on. I'm sure he knows in his heart what he wants to do and where he wants to be."
If Kupchak has no plans on talking to LO's agent anymore...he may be as good as gone.
I guess I just have to hope and pray that Portland gets Milsap. If they get milsap they won't have the 10 mil for Lamar.
If the jazz do match...I guess Lamar is gone. I would have to hope we could try to replace him with maybe a boozer maybe a Price. But we can't just go onwih Kobe Pau and Artest.
Odom will take one trip up here, see there is absolutely NOTHING to do, and he will get back on the plane and head straight back to LA to sign. My guess is hehopes Portland offers a ton of money and LA maybe increases an extra mill or so.
Portland can offer cash, but they have ZERO life outside of ball, especially coming from LA. If Odom had been in Minnesota all this time, maybe he couldhandle Portland, but from LA? No way, it's like going from 2009 to 1950. He'd be bored to tears, and the beaches here are lame as can be.

Both sides are at fault, in my eyes. I'm sure Jerry Buss has an extra $1mil to give to Odom. He's acting like the money isn't there at all. On theother hand, what does Lamar need $10mil for that $9mil isn't enough?
