Presidents from the SEC will not meet on Sunday to discuss the possible move of Texas A&M to the SEC, a high-ranking official from the SEC told Sporting News on Saturday.
The Texas A&M board of regents is scheduled to meet Monday afternoon. On Tuesday, the Higher Education Committee of the Texas state House of Representatives will convene.
Florida State president Eric Barron continues to say that his school has not had any discussions with anyone about joining the SEC.
The New York Times reported that 11 of 12 SEC presidents are planning to meet Sunday. However, a Sporting News source very close to the situation said that no such discussion or meeting is planned.
The source also confirmed that, to date, there has been no formal discussion about which program, if there is a Texas A&M addition, could join the conference next. But, the source added, there is no chance of the expansion stretching beyond 14 teams.
Sporting News has learned that Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has scheduled a conference call with the other nine Big 12 athletics directors at 4 p.m. Saturday to update them on Texas A&M's status.
A Big 12 source told SN that Texas A&M's departure will have no bearing on the other nine members and that—contrary to an ESPN report—Missouri and Oklahoma are not interested in becoming the SEC's 14th member.
again all everyone did last year was say the same thing and well know it was BS
